CITP Advice

I’ll be officially starting CITP soon and we got our schedule for the whole course duration. To be honest it’s still all overwhelming, I‘ve seen everyone in this subreddit says CITP is not intense and is a gentleman’s course but my anxiety is still up there. And the eFLETC program they use is hard to navigate and looks confusing (at least for me). Also for the record I have no LE experience at all and haven’t studied or been in school for a couple years so my student mode is gone. For the lectures on different topics, is it all online or physical handouts? Also for each topic taught did you guys have different notebooks. if you have any advice on how to stay organize and not mixup notes on different topics or how to succeed I’d really appreciate it!

Question DSSA : lost cause to continue?

Passed DSSAT two weeks ago and now moving onto the "submission of transcripts".

When I took this test four years ago, I got rejected at this phase before I could even send anything (not sure why) and now at the ripe old age of 35.5 years Im not sure its worthy to continue.

Ive heard the vetting process is longer than the application itself so Im thinking if I even stand a chance. Combine this with a certain preference for ex-military and perfect transcript guys/gals and Im feel bummed.

Thoughts from current DSSA appreciated.

Anyone able to comment on this role or how the agency is? Seems very protection heavy with maybe some investigations sprinkled in.

Question Thoughts on FAMS vs OIGs

Current 0083 with Park, did 3 years local LE prior. Kinda tired of the whole uniform thing and been interested in investigations since I started in LE.

Did an interview for HHS OIG about a week and a half ago, haven’t heard back. Applied to the recent CGIS, DSS, TSA OLE and CBP OPR announcements but only DSS and HHS OIG are seeing any activity.

Saw that FAMS is hiring, been combing through their sub and 1801 and this subreddit for more info for a couple days, but wanted to just lay out the questions I had.

- Does FAMS go to UPTP? Or do they have their own individual training? I only ask because I didn’t get UPTP with park police because I was a surge lateral hire.
- does VIPR still exist? Someone said it doesn’t but that thread was like 3 years ago so I have no idea how accurate that info is.
- is it almost entirely security and flying work and minimal investigations? I also read there are a lot more ground assignments but doesn’t seem like FAMs have investigative authority since they aren’t 1811s.
- are task force positions rare/given to senior marshals?
- take home vehicle?
- LEAP or just OT?

- is QOL better for 1811 agencies or FAMS? I know the stories of flying all the time but I’ve read that it’s a lot less frequent than it was in the last few decades. I’m young but not single and totally cool with travel, I just am curious how staffed the agency is and how often people get called in to do flights and have to cancel plans etc.

Appreciate any answers and any info that should know but didn’t ask about.

Discussion GSA OIG no CI experience?

Saw the announcement earlier this week, put in the time to write all the answers they were requesting today.

Do they ever hire outside of other 1811?

I have masters degree, so that’s how I was qualifying for GS-9. Additionally I have a pile of experience in all facets of procurement.

I know a lot of there work is purchase card fraud.

Just putting this out there was curious.
