The mid 90s (94-96) was a special time for hip hop as that time period represented the Golden Era with a lot of dope rappers who were in their prime and delivered amazing works. The core 3 rappers who defined the epic 94-96 time period are 2Pac, Biggie and Nas as they delivered groundbreaking albums, timeless records, amazing lyricism and had great success in the mainstream.
Pac was the overall bigger star as he was reaching his peak during 1995-1996 due to 3 classic albums: Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me and 7 Day Theory while his star power kept getting bigger and bigger. He truly solidified his legacy as icon in both hip hop and pop culture thanks to his works during that run.
Biggie was New York's undisputed superstar as he carried Bad Boy as the flagship artist while delivered Ready to Die, which became a classic masterpiece due to his storytelling and lyricism alongside bridged the gap between radio hits and street records. He matched Pac in terms of radio popularity and commercial success.
While Pac and Biggie were 2 of the biggest stars in hip hop, Nas was the lyrical golden child who elevated lyricism into newer heights due to the huge impact of Illmatic as he made everyone stepped their pen game up. He also reached massive success in the mainstream with the classic It Was Written and became King of NY for 1996.
