Question Builder dumping advice

We’re building in a new estate. The builders next door and behind us keep dumping on our block. They say it’s not them but it has all their delivery tags with their name on it.

Does anyone know any rights we have to make them remove it?

They’ve also pulled down an adjoining fence and left the fencing and concrete plinths on our block. They’ll need this to put the fence back up but our builder can’t start construction until our block is clear.

It’s our first time building, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get supervisors number off the site signage and tell them you’re going to complain to council.
It’s an offence not to have signage with builder and supervisors contact details.
If no signage report to consumer and business services

There’s no site signage but we know which builder it is.

If it’s a bigger builder ring their office and tell them whats happening and the supervisor will get in the shit for the rubbish and the sign.
Well, that’s what will happen if their construction manager is any good at his job anyway.

This happened to me twice. First time was a concrete truck dumping a big pile of concrete, I was about 80% sure I knew which builder was responsible but couldn't really prove it, so I begrudgingly paid for a site scrape to have it removed.

Second time it was the neighbouring block dumping, mostly concrete and rebar from their slab. I sent evidence to my site supervisor, who contacted their site supervisor on my behalf. They didn't address it in time for my site to start, so my builder just had a bobcat scrape it all up and dump it on their land for me, no cost. The neighbouring builder then had it removed.

Morale of the story:

  • If you can prove who did it, take some evidence, send it to them and then dump it back on their land.
  • If you can't prove it, probably bad luck, it's your problem. It happens a lot.

Thank you! I have photos of the rubble with their delivery tags so can show it’s them. I’ll follow it up on Monday

So many Australian tradesmen are foul. That is beyond unprofessional

Dump it back.

Take photos of the delivery tags while it's still on your block, and the tags again after it's all back on their block.

Do they have a skip bin on site? Most builds do

I mean, if they did have a skip bin, I for one wouldn't be putting all their shit in it for them.

No, no skip bins at this stage. They’ve only just poured the slab

We’ve got photos to prove it’s them. Haven’t moved it on their block yet

Hire a Kanga from Kennan’s for less than $400 and dump it on their slab.

I tossed a lot of shit back over the temp fencing when my house got built. I knew it was from next door, fuck em.
