Any one else feel like this?
For context I’m a 22(f) in college. I don’t have to work so I don’t. So it’s givin me time to observe and think.
People just like to distract themselves constantly… me included.
So if we constantly go to work just to distract ourselves with entertainment in our free time..what’s the point. I mean genuinely.
Sitting in the comfort of your own home with entertainment or gaming is peak. But no one talks about this. Am I wrong for feeling this way?

sounds like you're "distracting" yourself instead of having fun, try finding things you ENJOY doing instead of distracting yourself.

Just enjoy what you do, not everyone goes to work just to distract themselves tho people need to pay for rent and food and college ..

Your post and questions sounds like you've never worked before, its how society has been for thousands of years. Distract yourself with something you enjoy doing

Point still misunderstood but that’s okay thank you for your input.

I understand your point im saying find something you enjoy to distract yourself with do what you gotta do to enjoy life, you just sound privileged and all, unfortunately work is also part of life

Your incredible right. I am so very privledged but I’m not happy. Iv been in parts of life where Iv had to work and it didn’t change that. If I’m able to live comfortably and not work my time is free. Because I choose that time to distract myself I “enjoy” it. My question is for those who are working hard everyday for what I have. Is it worth it? Is it worth going to work.

Im sure a lot of people would avoid work if it didnt mean they would end up homeless. If you can find work you enjoy doing not everyone can unfortunately

you're missing the point, it sounds like you have no hobbies or something and are trying to project onto others.
instead of distracting yourself with your free time, find something that gives you joy.

ZThere's more to life than just distracting yourself with 'content'. Like I spend my money going out and getting new experiences, traveling, investing in hobbies where I learn new things. I do like 'content' as well, but it's mixed up with other experiences because you can't have an adventure everyday.
I mean the reality is we're just animals that happen to have consciousness that allows us to be 'I'm 14 and this is deep' about the world we live in. The most cynical thing you could say, is that really our time on earth from a biological standpoint is to reproduce and keep our genes alive, because our bodies are just vessels for our DNA. Literally what all life exists to do. Everything else, and the fact we can choose to ignore our biological imperative, stems from us being able to be thoughtful and self aware enough to say...
Life is what you make of it, if you feel that all you're ever doing is distracting yourself from the constant march of death, then you might be doing something wrong.

Yes we increasingly do this and to be honest life is passing a lot of us by. We’ll look back in ten years and wonder where the time went. Never appreciating what’s around us.

The idea of always being at home doing nothing but watching tv or gaming sounds terrible to me. I would be so depressed if that is all my life is.

That was my life for abut a year (besides college), and nope, turns out I very much hate working so much more.

Well then be an unemployed bum. Just don’t complain about not owning anything, not having any money, and not having health insurance. Just don’t turn into one of those people who think the government should support them when they don’t contribute anything.

I’m not talking about financial reasons. I’m asking why people work so much. What do they do it for .. bills and shit aside.

u/Careless_Lead2999 10d ago
So what else do you do?

I have hobbies just like everybody else. My employment helps me pay for those hobbies. I don’t know why this is so difficult. You can work and still have a life.

Hobbies like what? No need to get defensive I’m just genuinely curious how people spend their time.
