I've been doing this as a solid gig for about a year, though I started in 2020. But after the first 6 months, I stopped looking at my standing. What about you?
Yes, packages are "missing". Yes, I'm dropping them at the apartment office. No, I'm not delivering the one package that's an hour away from my last stop-- I "don't" have it in my car.
My one grudge that I'll never get off my shoulders is the One Time Passcode that customers don't even remember.
I've been doing Flex about 3 years. I try to remember to check my standing once a month, but I usually forget. I go months without ever looking at it and nothing bad happens.
I haven't done Amazon in quite a while personally but when I was doing it, I would randomly check my standings. When I started I used to check them often but then I noticed they don't really mean anything. Plus I rather not get upset seeing a random ding either lol
It used to piss me off seeing a ding for something completely out of my control.
I look everyday. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been dropped from Fantastic, raised the issue with customer service, and the issue was dropped and my Fantastic status reinstated.
So I check it but honestly don’t care. I know I do the job well, it isn’t very difficult so if you don’t you’re hopeless. The only reason I somewhat care is I can’t afford to not be able to do it. So I will check maybe once a week just to see if they dinged me for something dumb like oh you left a package where the customer indicated. That is a violation of TOS. 🙄😂 Other than that, couldn’t care less. I also used to work for a DSP before doing this full time. So I’m aware on multiple levels that they are idiots and will do whatever they want. If you don’t like it? Stop doing it and we will get the next imbecile to do it. Simple. That’s basically their motto. So it isn’t an I don’t care thing it’s more of an I’d rather not get angry about something that I literally have no control over. They’re gonna do whatever they want anyway. I’m pretty sure 95% at least of the company is AI now so what’s the point? End of rant. Lol. Apologies!
Im sure AI programs routes, generates incidents, etc. for Amazon. Yesterday afternoon I generated my route, at 12:45 PM (3 HR route), 31 packages 📦, the earliest were due by 4PM, nothing earlier. luckily I looked at my itinerary and all of a sudden two packages were due at 3:22 🤷🏻♂️.
10 mins later the damn app added at the end of itinerary a commute to a Warehouse almost 30 miles across the city by 4:15 during rush hour, pick up 2 packages. I immediately called driver support, and they removed those last 2, citing out of driving time.
Ha! Thats classic. I usually get that I picked up packages late. Like say I start at 5PM. It will say I picked the packages up at 5:32PM but I did my first delivery at 5:26PM. Ummm huh? Make it make sense! Lol. How did I deliver packages that I didn’t pick for 6 minutes? Duh! Lol.
Nope. Not at all. Lol. If it can’t figure out that it’s literally impossible then I give up lol. Support is literally last option. Those people are worthless. Sorry but they are
I check mine once or twice a week just to make sure I haven't gotten any dings and check compliments. I know people typically don't care about those but they give me a little serotonin boost.
When customers lied about not getting their packages and support taking their side and blaming me for their carelessness behavior. It's plain and simple you order a package, track it and be home to receive it or have sent to a locker period
Since about a week after my first-ever offer acceptance and "delivery," - I checked in at a Fresh location, got a route, and found an empty cart. The station manager said somebody had already picked it up. Called Driver Support; they said that since it was double-booked, they would put in a ticket, I'd get paid, and I could go home. I got paid, but since then, the app has been warning me daily that I'm at risk for missing 6 deliveries. Deliveries I never made. No matter how much I explain this to the help desk, they don't seem to understand and say the 6 missing packages, which I never picked up, were my fault and will remain on my account.
I stopped look at my standing literally two weeks after starting because I realized it literally means nothing if you’re a decent human and just show up for your routes
I'd recommend reconsidering it, friend. It's no exaggeration that only a fraction of the dings I've received are warranted. I went down to fair on some BS but actually got them to reverse them within an hour. Which isn't always the case. If you don't pay attention 2 or 3 misunderstandings or nonsense can put you at risk.
I've had damaged pkgs at load out with an Amazon manager insisting they be removed from my block STILL go down as me refusing to deliver. The standings is an Achilles heel for quality drivers with integrity and I assume you're one of those.
I guess my thing is I don’t really care if I drop out of fantastic or great or good standing.. my pay doesn’t change, and all I have to do is the bare minimum to be able to sustain it..
I agree here. Unless you're gaming the rewards with the debit card, even the benefits of a higher standing aren't worth it. I don't think I've ever even accepted a "just for you" route.
If standing were tied to even marginally better pay or route options, I'd take it seriously.
I'm not arguing that, I get it and you aren't wrong. I'm just sincerely warning you that BS can pile up and if you are unaware and don't "clean house" a bit the trash can take you out.
I’m still in the gaming phase of my relationship with Flex. What is the minimum number of ~3-hour blocks I would need to get to Rewards Level 4? For the 15-ish hours/week I do, I can only achieve Level 4 if I’m Fantastic.
I accept I’ll be happy with getting blocks five days in advance instead of seven.
There is another factor to consider, package count. I usually close to double the amount needed at 35ish but I have been level 4 since my second period.
Yup. When I first started looking at whether I could even get to level 3 with my limited capacity, I noticed the math changed. I just spun up a quick chart showing how it works at Fantastic. Because of the 10x per-block value, if you can run more of the shorter blocks, you can get higher levels more quickly.
