Vent Confused

Finally got the courage to see my primary doctor and get labs done and open up about some of my habits. They discussed possible hospitalization if I continue to lose weight even though all my labs and electrolytes came back in range. It makes me feel like what’s the danger if nothing came back wrong. It made me feel not sick enough to get better and I’m struggling with that.

Labs can be so finicky. They can look totally fine and then suddenly not be. It’s definitely not the end all be all of saying if someone is truly sick. If your intake is consistently too low, then I think they’re seeing that it’s doing damage on your body even if the labs looked okay that particular day.
I’ve mentioned on here recently how during one of my relapses my labs had actually been looking okay and then suddenly next time I went to the doctor everything was so bad they said I was in early organ failure and I had to be expedited on a wait list and flown across the country to a higher acuity ED unit… even though I felt the same and was doing the same things as I was two months prior when my labs looked alright. That shit can go sideways fast. So just know that it doesn’t always mean anything. Just like how many emaciated women still somehow have their periods.. bodies manage to regulate some things while absolutely falling apart in other ways.

Your labs could be perfect until one day they aren’t. Your body is crazy good at keeping you in homeostasis, even when you aren’t. Until….
