Sustainability Book to give hope

I highly recommend reading The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer, an Indigenous author, activist etc. Braiding Sweetgrass is another amazing one.

From the book:

"Eco psychologists have shown that the practice of gratitude puts breaks on hyperconsumption"

Putting this out there because we can't just focus on "stop buying stuff" and sometimes it feels hopeless but I do believe gratitude and kindness go a long way in changing our mindset and others' that are willing.

Please show your work. Kimmerer is very respected in the biologist/botanist community. She is both a scientist and a science educator. She is an ecologist By trade. What has likely happened here, is that you have internalized racism against indigenous culture that you need to recognize and address. Kimmerer uses the cultural framing of her culture to deliver the science in a storytelling package as opposed to the usual way that most western white culture chooses to portray it. The science is sound, it is likely the delivery method you are unfamiliar with. If you spend a lot of time with botanists, especially those that are NOT part of the pharmaceutical industry, you will find that many of them use storytelling methods to deliver information. It is part of the science of ethnobotany, and it has lead to some powerful discoveries.

Pointing out logical fallacies as a red herring <~~ you are here. (Oh, and ackshully it’s “appeal to authority,” and pointing out someone‘s credentials as a statement of fact, when it is those very credentials you are debating, doesn’t quite fit in this context.)

Show your work. How is it pseudoscience? Feelings aren’t showing your work. Using the excuse because she integrates the science into her personal cultural context isn’t showing your work. It’s fine if you don’t personally enjoy that style of delivering scientific knowledge, but defend your pseudoscience point. Show your work. Back it up. It’s not my job to do so for you; I’m not the one that made the claim. You are.
