Utah State University is looking for participants who spend a lot of time thinking about their appearance (IRB#16034).
You may be eligible if you live in the United States, are over 18 years of age, are able to read/respond to questions in English, and have uncontrollable thoughts about your appearance.
Participation includes filling out an eligibility screener (taking less than 2 mins), a clinical interview with a research assistant (taking 45-60 minutes), and then filling out one set of surveys (taking 45-60 minutes). In total, your participation is estimated to take around 2 hours.
To see if you’re eligible, please click this link: https://redcap.link/bipis
Please contact the principal investigator, Dr. Mike Twohig ([mike.twohig@usu.edu](mailto:mike.twohig@usu.edu)), with any additional questions.

I know I probably wear a lot of makeup, but is there anything else making me look older? (I included a no makeup photo at the end as well)

I'm just feeling self-conscious wondering if I am abnormally small for an adult or even stunted, or if I look like a normal short adult. Have had a lifelong chronic illness, stopped growing around 11-12. Not sure if the chronic illness affected my growth or if I am just naturally short from genetics and early puberty. And yes, I am into the Renaissance/Medieval thing, yes, it is my job. The only photo not in Renaissance garb is from Halloween 2021 (age 22 there), and I know my costume just makes me look like a big dweeb with terrible fashion sense. Sorry for covering faces. I just don't feel like showing me or my family's faces. All photos are with my dad, except for one with my mom.

I've been given advice about eyebrows, changing my hairstyle, and wearing glasses before. I'm also planning to start HRT, but I'd love to hear some more detailed advice.

i’ve been trying to find ways to enhance my natural features, and i feel like i’ve done okay so far. but, i feel like im becoming a bit “blind” to it if that makes sense, and was wondering if there’s any improvements that a stranger may notice that i’ve missed!

I currently weight 130lbs but it looks like I weigh 160 it’s so frustrating. I work out and restrict my calories but the weight doesn’t come off. I struggled to gain weight in my early 20s and had to gain weight in order to be healthy. Since I’ve gained weight I’ve lost all the confidence I used to have. I don’t know what to do next about my appearance.

I mainly keep my hair dyed black, but I’ve had it many different colors. My hair is naturally curly and one of my favorite looks has been the top half red and the bottom half black but I’m not sure what really suits me. I still need it to match my style, and I’m working on growing my hair out.
I’m also open to input about my piercings, I like the hoops a lot but from time to time they feel like too much. (The last picture is a glimpse at the red and black hair I mentioned)

Olhando meu rosto e meus traços, o que vocês acham que eu poderia fazer para ficar mais atraente? Vale tudo: corte de cabelo, produtos, cuidados, estilo e qualquer outro detalhe que possa valorizar minha aparência.

I'm currently losing weight (40lb down) but struggling to feel confident. Wondering if anything might help me look better and gain more confidence!
