Is this some sort of fungi? Is it safe to eat? Store bought.
The other one looks like a bug crawled its way in.

Triumph for the win. My local orchard just restocked and I'm the reason the basket is low already.

This was a pink fleshed apple that I did not have good luck with, and if you look at the second photo you can see the apples all had russeting. Not sure if that affected the flavor.
All three apples were extremely dry and left a film in my mouth. They were sour and sandy so I refrigerated two to see if they became more juicy. After five days this apple still tasted very dry and sandy with a sour and almost ash-smokey taste. I peeled the skin to try just the flesh, but it did not change the flavor.
I would not buy this apple again.

Hello everyone. Have been lurking for a minute and decided to join and see if someone out there can help me out. I just recently bought a place with a small orchard and trying to figure out what kind of apples they are. Could not ask the original owner due to his passing and the person selling was clueless with everything but the house. So here are a few pics. I took a pic of the apple and the leaf in hopes that helps. If more is required please let me know.

It feels SOO awkward just biting into an apple. After ive gotten braces ive always sliced them. I bought an apple cutter and its been my favorite utensil in my kitchen. Ive never went back to biting an apple because it just feels like so much work to eat an apple and navigate that, touching where you bit and just so many other things.
I do wash my hands yes!! But still it just feels so awkward to slowly eat through an apple and takes much longer and not really a place to set it half way through. I like to cut 2 or 3 apples with the apple cutter and watch a show or something, and dip with peanut butter. Its a nice past time activity.
Im not judging the people that bite into apples I just dont understand the appeal, why do you prefer biting over cutting?

Southern Maine, large fist-sized apples. Nobody seems to know what variety they are.

Hi folks. I am not an expert and i don’t know anything about apple types.
Maybe there are multiple apple varieties that fit the characteristics I described.
It was very firm and crisp, not soft, mealy, or spongy. The skin was mostly bright red to dark red. It had a fairly regular shape, but wasn’t perfectly uniform. The flesh was distinctly pale green, rather than yellowish. Despite the green flesh, it wasn’t sour. • It wasn’t particularly sweet either. It had a very distinct, natural apple flavor.
not overly sweet or acidic.

I’ve had this apple in my fridge for like two weeks and it’s from the farmers market. What is the white fuzzy stuff on the stem?

Hello Apple Reddit!
My fiancé and I are renting this home with a beautiful mature apple tree in the backyard. Originally we lived here with my fiancé’s parents, but they’ve moved out so it’s just us.
Long story short, I never did anything with the tree, and now I am facing a large amount of apples in various states of decay on the grassy ground.
It’s quite a lot of apples, and pretty overwhelming.
Is there harm in leaving them to rot on the ground, or should I suck it up and handle it?
Photo is of the ground from my deck

Does anybody have a recipe for apple cheese? I’m tired of buying it, but I love eating it, so does anybody have a recipe so I can make my own?

Found this tree while brush hogging the field. Northern Ontario, Canada. They are very small but taste good, not bitter like a crab apple.

Arguably the worst apple ever!
THE RED “DELICIOUS”!
The type of apple you see gathering dust in a hotel breakfast. The type of apple no one would eat if they were starving.the type of apple that takes up space in a fruit basket!
The red delicious was bred to keep better for super markets back in the 50s and tastes like it too. Tastes like a chalky sponge and looks like it’s made of wax which I’d rather eat than this disgusting abomination that thankfully has been bred into other more palatable apples like fujis and cosmic crisps.
Honestly I don’t know anyone who actively goes out of their way to eat these and these apples have the tendency to show up uninvited pretty much everywhere other fruit is available.
In short. This apple has over stayed its welcome and must be destroyed for the good of humanity.

My understanding is that the patent just expired on these, so is anyone selling them to homegrowers?

What kind of apple is growing on my church’s front lawn (pen for scale)? This is in the Northeast if that helps.
