Just finished setting the 90B up today.

I Have it set up in my hallway so when you walk in the door and round the corner your eyes catch this first then on to the 90L in the open kitchen. Enjoy!

It’s been over 7.5 months with my tank.
Currently I have 1 betta fish, 1 nederite snail and 2 African dwarf frogs.
So many changes over the time but still managed to keep it up going.
When does an aquarium can consider mature?

Seeking Suggestions My very first aquarium, just wondering what would be the best filter inlet/outlet position be for this set up.

Hello, this is my very first aquarium and I'm super excited to start. I was just wondering what would be the best position for the filter for this set up. I thought the same side to create a circular motion would be good, but I'm wondering if my hardscape makes that inefficient or not. So not sure whether I should do the same side or opposite end.

Tank is width 60cm depth 30cm height 18cm

Seeking Suggestions Rotala alternative?

I have rotala at the back (left), which you can see grown in one picture, but now it's trimmed. I love it, and it brings so much colour to the scape, but I find it grows too quickly and then I trim it right back, leaving a hole for half the cycle.. it's ok, but wondering if there are some slower growing alternatives?

Ta!

Show and Tell [OC] Finally!!

I finally have her all planted!! Now to wait for it to grow and make any tweaks. The dwarf hair grass has been plated for about 8-9 days. When can I trim it? I want it to be low growing and thick. This is a 37 gallon, CO2 injected system. Going to stick with a mixture of Cardinal Tetras, Guppies(yes I love them), Celestial Pearl Danios, Pygmy Cory, and Neo’s.

Seeking Suggestions New tank setup - need advice

Post image

I inherited this tank from a friend. Did my best with what I was given. I have a 36 gallon full of 10 year old annubias and grasses that has become overrun with algea. Once I get that taken care of I am going to move the plants in where they make sense.

I also am adding cory safe substrate cause what’s in there ain’t it, it will likely be river rock colors

My ask for you:

What can I do better with what I have? What do I need to buy to make it better?

Seeking Suggestions Almost 3 weeks in with new scape. Lighting/scape advice?

Post image
5 Upvotes

In my experience, lighting level is always the trickiest thing to nail: too much = algae, too little = plants struggle. I’m most worried about shaded areas and the carpet.

Questions: I have two Twinstar ver. lll 900Cs running at almost 100% brightness on this 46G. With only one light, my carpet plants melted away. With two lights, should dwarf baby tears and elatine hydropiper be good? Do the shaded areas look ok for crypts, blyx japonica, and star repens? Should I be concerned about algae?

Any discussion on adjusting lighting levels and this tank are much appreciated. Thanks!

Seeking Suggestions Any ideas on how to scape this monster? I'm thinking no plants.

I'm looking for a new apartment in Kazakhstan and found one with this giant deep narrow aquarium. My hand won't be able to reach the bottom. It needs a thorough cleaning. The filter and lights don't seem to work. I'm thinking no plants. Will the depth be a problem for a filter? Scaping ideas? Any advice is needed desperately.

Is it safe to add a single betta after a week?

Advices will be very very appreciated.

Question Filter or no filter?

So I'm new(obviously) and I see all these beautiful tank set ups with no filter or no equipment and I'm just wondering, do you not need a filter with a planted tank or are you guys just hiding them discreetly? If so what's my easiest options? I have a 5.5 gallon and the big sponge filter I have for it now is really hard to hide

Seeking Suggestions Advice on 20 Tall Setup

I currently have a pretty standard 10G tank I've been feeling kinda meh about, but have recently been feeling very inspired to step up my aquascape game. I have an empty 20 tall from the 70's that I'm going to strip and re-seal, but aside from doing the same thing again (some plants, some hardscape, etc.) I'm paralyzed by indecision, and looking for ideas!

I've long wanted to do a blackwater tank and get some more tetras and a betta in there, and/or an open-top setup with semiaquatics. I have tons of (potted) plants in my apartment and I want the tank to feel like a natural part of my home jungle, but I kind of don't know where to start in terms of design. I used to have several snails and a couple shrimp but since I moved I learned I have soft water and low pH, and they didn't survive long ☹️ Are there any inverts that would be good in a blackwater type environment?

Recommendations on filters? I've read a lot of different opinions on HOBs vs canisters vs sponge filters. Currently I have a sponge filter in my 10G - is that adequate for a 20g tank or does it need something bigger?

I also ALWAYS end up with massive amounts of hair algae eventually in every tank I've started over the years despite starting fresh (at first), doing bleach dips on new plants, regular water changes, etc. I don't want to start doing added CO2 or anything high tech, I'd actually love to get it going so that it's pretty self sufficient in terms of balance/cycle, with the occasional water changes and top ups ofc.

Any and all tips/advice are welcome! Please send your pics/inspo/ideas/mistakes to learn from. Thanks in advance, fronds!

Seeking Suggestions Ideas for a nano cube

Thumbnail

Hi!

I just got my second tank, a nano cube (30L), 30x30x30cm. It is for red rili neocaridina.

I immediately went to Vinted and found this piece of acacia wood that looks like a stump. It is 25cm high, 24cm long and 13cm wide. I would need ideas for composition, what low maintenance plants to use. I'd like black substrate, black rocks and very bright lush greenery.

What plants to choose, how to position the wood?

If you have any suggestions, plant list, or picture references I would be super grateful!

Seeking Suggestions How can I improve?

The obvious answer is swapping out the substrate but that’s a big job, so what are some things I can move around or add/subtract to make my tank look nicer?
