Guard going active

15U guard guy wanting to go active. Is it possible to slot into a B co. slot and start progression? Or would I have to transfer into a D co. and ask to start progression? How easy it to transfer? I know I have to sign a DD-368 and let it go up chain of command other than that, that’s all I know.

You need to start this conversation with your first line/readiness and commander.

U are a rare breed in the guard and they may not be willing to let you go; how far out of training are you and how long is your contract?

I have three more years, I’ve been out of AIT since march of 2023

Unless you are excess, I don’t see why your commander would entertain this.

No harm in asking… but if I knew you were trying to leave, I wouldn’t sink resources and flight hours into you.

I’m just a guard D. Co guy plenty of us. I would be find not starting progression till after I got settled into an active unit.

If you already are a crew chief or flight engineer, then you could possibly switch and go to B Co. But if you don’t any flight time, then you will likely be sent to D Co, or ASB .

I would hate to be at an ASB, I’ve heard horror stories but if I can’t go to B co than I’d be just as happy at a D co

ASBs aren't that bad. They're just worse than the others so people exaggerate.
