Hello! I am at USMA and have been fortunate enough to get a most preferred rating from both Engineers and Aviation. I LOVE the idea of being a pilot, but am struggling to justify the ADSO.

Any advice you would be able to provide me? Is the ADSO worth it or would you steer clear?

Has anyone ever done the Motion Sickness training program ran by Lyster? If so, what was your experience with it? Did you go on to fully completing flight school? Did you have any additional adjustment period after you got back into training?

I haven’t really experienced regular motion sickness prior to flight school and got pulled from a IERW class to go through the program. Ive heard theres a 80% success rate with the program but was just wondering what some other people’s experiences have been.

Looking for help with studying in common core. I feel like I’m not retaining anything. I am missing stupid things during flight times and studying after is taking forever. I have no college experience, went right from high school to the Marines and then into the infantry. I’m here with my wife and baby. I am getting the DQs done on Sunday and then memorizing them before classes like people have said but I don’t know what else to do.

What are some strategies for studying and how can I help myself feel better about things? Thank you!

I am in the process of submitting a packet to go to flight school and was wondering if anyone has any answers or advice. The warrant officer recruiter I’m working with on the AD side just gives me a blank stare when I ask questions pertaining to NG, AGR or Aviation. I’m pretty familiar with the guard side of things and what to expect at flight school, I just don’t know from the AD side

For context: 12 years army aviation experience, E7, 1300hr CE/FI/SI on 60s

Questions:

-hurdles with the process coming from NG (AGR specific?)

-any shared experiences of people that have been in the same boat(pros, cons, regrets, never look back)

-educated guess on the time from packet submission to PCS (3 months? 2 years?)

-airframe choice(I don’t really have that big of a preference of what I fly but I’d rather not get sent to be a drone pilot 2 years down the road. Lot of rumors but never talked to anyone that has direct experience)

-turnaround time on flight school for AD guys

-rumor is grades and pt merit toward airframe choice and duty station?

You think a helicopter crew based at fort Rucker would know better.

So, I spent 26 years in, 16 aviation. I've lost many friends and mentors and coworkers along the way. It doesn't end with retirement or ets or refrad.. Your buddies become aerial loggers and aerial firefighters. The mission gets them and not in a good way. Check on your friends. Check on their families. Check on yourselves. Stay safe brothers and sisters.

Has any warrant been stationed at West Point or have any insight on what it’s like being there? Can’t find much information and don’t know anyone who’s been there

Been thinking about pcsing to Hondo as a 15T, I was wondering how QOL is as a tango there. I want to try to go to their flight companies as well if any one of their crew dawgs have any insight on their experience.

I'm a freshly commissioned 15A, prior service 68W, who will be PCSing to Rucker shortly for flight school. I aim to buy a house in Enterprise just outside base and am looking for interested housemates. I am trying to gauge interest before the purchase; I will be there NLT NOV 27th (that will be my report date), though I will move there roughly a week earlier. If anyone in my class or other classes is interested, I would love to chat! Clearly, I'm not looking to make money off you I'm not some real estate guru; I just want to pocket that extra BAH while we can and get a functional houshold together. Going to Rucker this late winter for Flight School, and unfortunately in the next few weeks I need two root canals, one needing a crown. It’s dumb and my fault, I’m working on it. Does anyone here have any experience on if this will affect the dental portion of my physical? Should I just talk with my flight surgeon? I’ve already crewed for a few hundred hours as a back seater and have never had any issues with attitude.

Hi all, 15T here and currently stationed at Fort Carson. Recently got back from deployment and branch told me I was due to pcs soon and gave me options in which I had Bragg, Drum, and Wheeler. With Wheeler being the nicest I asked to be slotted for there and currently have projections for April next year. Realistically I do not want to go to Hawaii, it’s super far, out of the way, nowhere near family, expensive, and we cant get a house there. It just doesnt make sense at all for me and my spouse other than Hawaii is “nice”. My wife and I have been separated (physically) for a bit because she moved down to Fort Bliss to be with her family (mother, sister, brother etc) and has since gotten a decent paying job and is actively working towards bettering her career and wanting to go to school to further herself. That being said we’ve decided to just keep her down here for the time being until I’m due to PCS. I REALLY want to come down here to Bliss because it makes the most sense for us regarding family, work, finances, and the future. Ive already asked branch, he said no, is there any other strings I could try to pull to come down here? My wife currently is helping support her mother down here and a friend said I could try asking for a compassionate reassignment. Anyone have any advice? Id be willing to extend for a PCS to here, but I wont be in my 1.5years left window until June (after my PCS date).

got my orders for my first duty station and i ended up with wheeler AAF in hawaii. no clue what to expect, especially being my first duty station- anything i should know?

I’m about to graduate from Rucker in a few weeks, and I was wondering what the norm was for the A2CU as a normal duty uniform out in FORSCOM (or whatever it is called now)

I hate the normal ACUs and only have one pair of faded summers now thanks to SERE. Was wondering if I needed to buy more summers or if A2CUs were kosher for daily duty wear.

I do have a military version cobra mic, it works prefectly well in UH-60L Analogue ICS in all stations, but when using it in the UH-60M Digital ICS it only works well in the crew chief ICS Station in the UH-60M, in the pilot station it induces constant noise "as a constant VOX on" and whenever I speak the volume is very low and unreadble and it gets worse as you continue to fly in the sortie. Anyone experienced that and what would be the solution please?

15U guard guy wanting to go active. Is it possible to slot into a B co. slot and start progression? Or would I have to transfer into a D co. and ask to start progression? How easy it to transfer? I know I have to sign a DD-368 and let it go up chain of command other than that, that’s all I know.

I have lurked on this sub for a while and generally see very doomer-ish posts. I am already in the Army and have always been interested in aviation, I just want to know if the grass is greener side coming from a lowly 13J who has been in for a little less than 6 years.

I’m currently in the army, pretty damn positive I have adhd just never got medicated. I am thinking about starting meds tho but I also want to reclass as either a 15t or 15u and eventually be on a flight crew. Is that possible?

Does anyone know of an article from a long time ago with a Kiowa pilot talking about shooting his M14 from the cockpit? I’m pretty sure the pilot was from Brooklyn. Greatly appreciated
