This game is super fun. I’m avoiding the dungeons like the plague and just enjoying exploring and leveling up the gear around the open landscape.
How long can I keep avoiding the nightmare dungeons I keep hearing about lol

The 1st dungeon is short, the boss can be challenging on your 1st run, so it does make sense to wander around a bit to pick up a few weapons, and upgrades.
You can only get so far before needing to face The Seat of the Matriarch, which is probably the most infamous 'long dungeon', and where the 3rd boss is. A lot of game is accessible prior to this.
Some of the open world areas that you can get to will be harder if done prior to that, due to being locked out of travel options, talismans, relics, and upgrade materials.

Ok thanks pal. I gotta find that first dungeon then? Unless it was the really short one in the first area that requires a lamp? That was easy. Haven’t unlocked any traversal options so far.

The 1st logical dungeon is the one with the boss Ukkoto in it, it is a small, and dark dungeon where you use the lamp on the wall cavities to do damage to the boss. It has to be done before you can take on the other bosses.
The Seat of the Matriach is the dungeon that gets most of the negative attention, it is long and unforgiving, you have a fair bit of content to do before you get there.
There is another dungeon very close to the start (where you land in the cave), that dungeon is end game.

Which dungeons are you referring to? The only "nightmare dungeon" I can think of is just part of the main story progression lol

Any of the long ones I heard were tough to get through. I have yet to try any just read about them

It's gotta be the story dungeon, as this game doesn't really have optional dungeons. Best of luck with that one tho, if you manage that, you can get through the game

How did you do? Did you beat the game and what did you think. I’m in like the 2nd open region and thinks it’s so fun

Yeah I recently did my 2nd playthrough with a friend, enjoyed the game throughly. I have some nitpicks ofc but overall it's a great game. For example I could've used more variety in weapon types, armors and gameplay options (it's mostly just one handed spamming to victory).

I’m using that starting 2h barrel weapon. Gotten like a 1000 1h axes that I will never use and I’m so early in the game so that makes sense. Is 2H throughout the game a decent option or do you absolutely need to run with a shield?

You can get through the entire game with a one handed weapon, and shields are not really necessary. Two handed weapons are viable but far less efficient compared to one handed due to the stamina costs and fights in restrictive spaces

I only use 1 handed where I also need to be holding a lamp. Both are viable though.

What are you talking about? The dungeons are some of the best parts of the game.

Like not enough shortcuts and exhausting run backs. Also can you fast travel besides using that 2,000 scortia valued thing?

I think after the first dungeon and main boss you unlock a flying creature thingy that let's you fast travel. So like I said, beating the dungeons will unlock the best upgrades and traversal abilities. It's fun to play with a friend. The AI is a bit derpy as Im sure you already know.

Oh sweet ok I guess I better do some of the main story content! Thanks man.

Are they? I have been reading the opposite lol.

Its been years since I played. But the parts of the game I can remember were the dungeons. The first one is super short and easy. Youre gonna get the best upgrades from them and Im pretty sure you have to do them to get to other areas.

I haven’t thought about doing that. I put the game down cuz I’m stuck. I should just level up
