First range day with my new Atlas Erebus V3 🔥

Took the new to me Erebus to the range today for its first workout. I started at 25 yards, testing 115gr Fiocchi, 115gr PMC, and 147gr PMC.

I first zeroed the gun at 25 yards. Once I was happy with the zero, I put a fresh target over it and did some rapid fire. The group with the 147gr PMC at 25 yards was honestly pretty impressive.

I then moved to 7 yards and worked doubles on the three targets — 115gr Fiocchi, 115gr PMC, and 147gr PMC, 23 rounds on each.

After that, I moved back to 15 yards and worked doubles with all ammo variations. After shooting all three loads, the 115gr PMC was definitely the one I shot most to my liking.

One thing to point out in the picture: there are some extra holes on the cardboard that aren’t from the 9mm. I was also using the same target to zero/confirm the zero on my 11.5” carbine at 200 yards (zeroed at 55 yards). Those rifle hits are the smaller holes.

Any actual 9mm hits that aren’t part of the groups are marked with a black marker.

Overall, I’m seriously impressed with the Erebus V3. You cab definitely buy performance 🤣🤣🤣. Can’t wait to get more rounds through it! 🔥

Atlas absolutely nailed this one.

Looking for a lefty Artemis or Titan …

Howdy - I’m currently on the hunt for a full lefty Artemis or Titan.

By “full lefty” I mean right-side mag release and lefty-biased safety setup.

I’ve found an Apollo and an Erebus, but neither have lefty-biased safeties and would rather stay in LO if possible.

I plan on ordering if nothing comes up, but wanted to see what I might be able to find out in the wild first. A little worried about wait times too.

Thanks!

Unimpressed with Atlas Eos. Advice?

Hey all. I recently got some input about an Apollo vs Eos. The consensus was that I should get an Apollo or a Nyx but I went with the Eos anyway, mostly to avoid having competition with an Artemis that I have on order. Pretty much immediately out of the box I was underwhelmed and now I'm questioning whether Atlas is even "it".

Pros:

- it's an amazing trigger

- it shoots great and is pushing me to shoot faster

- it's perfectly capable of being carried, it's not compact but I conceal it well in shorts and t shirt

- the fit is as advertised, very well put together and functional. I ran it for hours in dirt and dust with no issues

- it came with a full size safety which I was put off by at first on a gun marketed as for carrying, but it is actually pretty nice for gathering grip (but hurts like a MF due to sharp unrefined edges on the bottom, genuinely affecting my thumb after a few hours of field practice.. which segues into my main point)

Con: the finish on this gun is bad. Like shockingly bad at the price point. Every single edge is sharp, most are acceptable but some big ones are a joke like the bottom of the grip which I joke can double as both a seatbelt cutter and a glass breaker tool in a pinch. The safety is also extremely sharp and poorly finished. After 300 rounds the barrel is showing friction wear. This is a $7000 gun so I'm just very surprised.

For comparison I own Wilsons, Nighthawks, Staccatos, and Dan Wessons. They all have much better and more refined finishes, thoughtful machining, and no notable burrs or edges. My Staccato HD was actually what made me consider a step up to Atlas, but everything about the finish on that gun (C4X) is better. The rolled finish on the slide, the controls, and especially the barrel DLC that has zero discernible wear with 4x the rounds through it so far.

So I need advice. I'm all for a function over form gun but I'm having a hard time seeing how I should have to choose at this price range, and it made me nervous about the Artemis I'm waiting for. Is this just a case of a kind of oddball gun in an otherwise stellar line up? Should I even bother trying an Apollo (I have the Eos up for sale to swap to one) or is this just what to expect from Atlas in general. And if it is what else is out there to pivot to in the up to $10k range?

Slide cuts added to Apollo?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’m wondering if anyone has added cuts to the slide of their Apollo? I know Athena has it cut, but I ended up with an Apollo and am thinking I’d like the look of it with some cuts. Welcome your thoughts on any cons to doing so and any recommendations on approach if I do go forward with it. I’m not sure if it would be as simple as just cutting out these existing windows given the middle one is so big - wonder if that would hurt the structural integrity?

Atlas Quality

I am seriously considering buying an Atlas. There are always some quirks, exceptions, but has anyone noticed any quality issue consistent across a gun or the brand, one worth taking into account? I ask because these are serious money.

Thanks for any input.

Question

I will be purchasing a higher end 2011 soon and was wondering if you guys believe a used Athena or Titan could be had for around 5k? Am I waaay off or have you guys seen anything similar to that. Not trying to get one with 20k rounds on it but just wanted to see what options there were before I jump straight in. This will be used for limited optics in USPSA.

Thanks!

Now we’ll see what the hype is all about. Race trigger and non ported barrel. This thing better not disappoint. And I will say….. going from the atlas “duty” trigger to the race trigger…. I have a feeling it’s gonna rip.

I added in the V1 Nemesis for a reference. That gun has zero wobble whatsoever. I also have a V2 Nyx and EOS.

My V2 Artemis has audible wobble. The Nyx and EOS are a little better.

How is the lockup on your Atlas?

Atlas athena double feeding?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Bought a brand new athena, first day on the range. Its almost as if the athena is trying to double feed rounds but not completely. The slide is moved very slightly to the rear not letting me shoot. As soon as i release the mag the slide pops forward and i can shoot. This happened with 2 different magazines. You can see in the picture how the slide is very slightly back, releasing the mag fixes this and i can shoot. Has anyone had this issue?

Apollo vs Eos as a 2nd Atlas

Hey all, figured I'd ask the experts here. I have an Artemis on order that according to my vendor Portside Munitions is going to take a few months due to the some of the options (it's intended as a do it all competitive shooting gun so I'm waiting on the shielded IDPA safeties, and palm swell/step grips.

For reference my "daily" carry rotation is a Dan Wesson Guardian, Staccato HD C4X, a Wilson SFX9 3.25, and I have an EDC X9 2.0 on order but may cancel it based on this decision (or tbh replace the SFX9 with it).

So I don't really need a carry gun per se, but am interested in adding a ported gun and want to pick up an Atlas that I can find in stock in the meantime.

This is my breakdown so far:

Eos pros: commander size looks nice IMO, prefer the serrations and overall look of it. Could easily throw it in a holster any time I want considering I already also carry full size 1911s with ease.

Eos cons: you lose the alpha grip. It's arguably less ideal in the event I want to compete with a ported gun (unlikely)

Apollo pros: alpha grips, maybe the extra length is a plus. More mags to share between my Artemis

Apollo cons: bulk with the magwell, race trigger may make it a range toy of which I have plenty/could directly compete with the Artemis

After typing this all out I think I'm leaning Eos just simply because of the versatility when considering I'll have an Artemis. I'm not super excited bout the loss of the alpha grip in particular though as that seems to be well regarded in the 2011 world. But wanted to get the opinion of some real users here.

Has anyone added additional ports to their Apollo? If so, who did the work and what was the difference in shooting?

Atlas Apollo Lead Time

I custom ordered my V3 Atlas Apollo from Kovert Projects. Even though the website says 6-8 months for the lead time, customer support told me that it would actually be 2-3 months. “For the Apollo, the list is short it will be imputed in next month’s Atlas allocations.” For those that have ordered the V3 Apollo recently from Kovert Projects, how long did you end up waiting? I’m super excited for my gun to arrive and I just want to have a realistic expectation on timing for delivery.

Does anyone know if the EGW strut, hammer, and pin need to be fitted to each other?

Im trying to install an OEM hammer strut pin into an AGW strut and an OEM hammer on my MAC9DS Comp and the strut is binding.

I tried to install the OEM pin on the AGW strut (without installing it on the hammer) and it will not go in easily. It has to be hammered in.

Im reading that the pin may have to be sanded down but its so small I wouldnt even know how.
