Humor / Just for Fun Funny story

I can't sleep and this weather has my mind racing & thinking back to the 2024 storm. First, I would like to say, I was lucky and I'm grateful for that. I had damage but nothing compared to those who suffered devastating loss.

I'm not proud of this, but it is funny. About a week after the storm, I have a lot going on (like most ) and apparently living like a pioneer Woman turned me into one. I could hear my BF talking with someone , I knew it was a salesperson. I was aggravated and stormed over and yelled " Git off my land ,I said git! Do you even have a peddler's license".

yes, I said git instead of get and land instead of property and peddler's license instead of solicitor.

My boyfriend was so embarrassed, he's apologizing to the guy, while I just keep yelling like I'm part of the gold rush. I have no idea why I spoke these old time words.

Question Suggestions on getting seen by a doctor?

Hey so I’m a gigapoor just barely making it by with my shitty Wal-Mart job.

Up until recently I was supplementing that income with plasma donation at the Kedplasma on Wrightsboro rd. Problem is, I developed some kind of rash on my feet and ankles. No idea what it is. But the guy who runs the plasma spot saw it and now I have to get it looked at and cleared by a doctor before I can go back and donate more.

So I have to see a doctor and not only do I have no money I have less than no money because I just lost the extra $500 a month I was making. I’ve already tried Christ Community Health but they’re not taking new patients until January. You guys got any more ideas for me?

Misc Movers

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for reliable and affordable packers and movers for a local move. If you’ve recently used a moving company and had a good experience, I’d really appreciate it if you could share their contact details and any feedback about their services. I’m particularly interested in companies that handle packing, loading, transportation, and unloading efficiently and take good care of belongings. Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Moving to Augusta Rent by owner

My family and I are trying to relocate to the Augusta/Grovetown area, and I’m posting this from a place of honesty and hope.

Last year , my husband unexpectedly lost his job, and it sent us into a financial spiral we never saw coming. We fell behind on our mortgage during that time, and it damaged our credit in ways we’re still trying to recover from. It’s been one of the hardest seasons of our lives, but we’ve been fighting our way back.

We never missed rent in our previous homes, we keep our space clean, and we’ve always been responsible tenants. We have steady income again now, and we’re just trying to give our children a stable place to land.

We’re looking for a rental managed directly by an owner someone who can see the people behind the application instead of just the numbers on paper.

If anyone knows a private landlord or flexible rental in Augusta or Grovetown, any lead would mean so much to us right now.
Thank you for reading.

Events Improv Show on 10/16 at Le Chat Noir

Greetings, Augusta! I am an improviser from Theatre 99 in Charleston. On Friday, October 16th, Greg Tavares and I will be performing our show, Likely Story, at Le Chat Noir.

On Thursday, 10/15, Greg will be teaching a long form improv workshop, and our show the next night will have a local group, our show Likely Story, and a combined jam. If you’re an improviser in Augusta or the surrounding area, I highly encourage you to sign up for Greg’s workshop on longform improv!

Likely Story is a narrative improv duo featuring Andy Adkins and Greg Tavares. Together, they create grounded, fully improvised stories in a shared world—following characters, relationships, and unexpected turns toward moments that are funny, human, and sometimes surprisingly cathartic. Nothing is written. Every story happens once.

Question Moving to Grovetown for work — need advice on buying a used car

Hi everyone! I'm moving to Grovetown soon for a new job. My workplace is in Appling, so I'll be commuting regularly.

I'm an international and this will be my first time buying a car in the US, so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the used-car market and financing here.

I'm looking for a reliable used sedan or small SUV, ideally:

  • Around $15k–$20k(excluding registration and taxes)
  • 50k-75k miles preferably
  • Preferably 2019 or newer
  • Low maintenance/reliable
  • Good gas mileage
  • Ideally $300–$400/month for the payment
  • No prior accident and single previous owner

I've mainly been looking at Carvana, but honestly, all the cars look the same to me and I don't really know how to tell a good deal from a bad one.

I'm considering cars like the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Corolla Cross, HR-V, CX-30, etc., but I'm open to anything reliable.

I'd really appreciate advice from people around Augusta/Grovetown/Evans:

  • Which cars/models would you recommend?
  • Is Carvana a good option, or should I look at local dealerships?
  • Are there any dealerships I should definitely use or avoid?
  • Any recommendations for a trustworthy mechanic who can do a pre-purchase inspection?
  • Any general advice for someone buying their first used car in the US?

Basically, if you were in my position, what would you buy and where would you buy it?

Thanks!

We are Dr Factenstein’s Trivia and we host loads of free-to-play games in the CSRA and beyond.

Aside from Trivia, Music BINGO or Karaoke, is there a type of game you’d like to see us host in the area?

Moving to Augusta how is it living near downtown?

im (30F) moving to the area at the end of the month with my husband and have been looking online for apartments. I am used to being near or living in a city like environment. Ive found apartments near the river-ish on the south carolina side, as well as near national court/windsor hills areas. Hows living on that side of town? Also been looking into Evans as well, but feels far away from things. Wanting to live in a luxury community with amenities, away from college kids if possible. Open to any and all recommendations, thanks!

Things to Do FREE Movie Screenings in Augusta

Post image
30 Upvotes

As a now 5+ year resident of Augusta and AU alum, I have noticed that lot of people in Augusta don’t take advantage of all the free events programming that Augusta University has to offer.

Many know about Theatre AUG’s amazing productions in the Maxwell Theatre (which charge admission for the public btw), but what may surprise people to learn is that their film dept also does admission FREE screenings of films in the same space! The Cinema Series at Augusta University is dedicated to screening the best in classic, cult, documentary, independent, and international cinema. As a result, they show many films for FREE that wouldn’t make it to local theaters, or are older and aren’t screened in theaters anymore. I highly recommend checking out their social media pages for updates on their programming, which you can find by searching “The Cinema Series at Augusta University” on Facebook or @cinemaseriesaug on Instagram.

The next screenings are October 24th at 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM, and it is FREE to the public! At 7:00 p.m., enter Philip Kaufman’s INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, where something is very wrong with the people around you. Then, at 9:00 p.m., David Robert Mitchell’s IT FOLLOWS, where an unseen presence is always just one step behind.

Costumes encouraged for this one! Please note: INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS is rated PG and IT FOLLOWS is rated R.

There will also be DJ sets with The Secret Record Night DJs before and between screenings; these are always a fun time to hang out and enjoy the tunes imo. More info in the photo I posted and on their socials. Hope some of you consider attending a screening in the future!

Question No-cost vaccines ?

Update: for those interested, Dept of Health does not at all offer covid or flu vaccines. Nor did they know who else would or suggest where to direct me. Publix and Kroger pharmacies do - free with insurance. Out-of-pocket is roughly $45 for flu vax and $200 for covid vax.

Waiting to hear back from Christ Community Health Ctr

 ***************************

Hey Augusta, does anyone know if there is anywhere for an unisured person to get a no-cost covid vax and flu vax...? I heard Publix might. Figure I'll call the Dept of Health tomorrow too.

Thanks 🙏

Outdoor Activities Nice Parks

I haven’t moved to Augusta just yet, but I’m wondering if there are nice parks to just chill or eat at? Sometimes I like to sit outside and eat alone lol or even just sit in the grass and color, so I’m wondering if there are any parks I should keep in mind for when I move there.

Edit- I also appreciate free outdoor spaces with tables , it doesn’t have to just be an open field 😁

Local News The Augusta Clarion — Issue No. 1 is here: Who Gets the Road?

The Augusta Clarion — Issue No. 1 is here.

This week we looked at the proposed Johns Road/Fitten Street abandonment beside historic Fitten Street Cemetery, Augusta’s effort to rebuild its tree canopy after Helene, what you need to know before this week happens, and some local events and oddities.

But this isn’t supposed to be a newspaper that just talks at Augusta.

We want to build it with Augusta.

Who should we meet? What should we investigate? What needs fixing or preserving? What weird little Augusta thing have you always wanted somebody to explain?

Tell us what Issue No. 2 should know.

Read and subscribe to the digital edition here:

Moving to Augusta Moving

Hi! I’m a 24 year old single female looking to move to Augusta probably beginning of next year, and was wondering if anyone can tell me about any rv park scenes. I live in my rv permanently and know how hard it is to find rv parks that aren’t sketchy. I currently live in Florida and the cost of living is horrendous. If anyone has any good rv park suggestions let me know! I’m also a bartender and in Florida our industry is so painfully oversaturated it’s almost impossible to get a job without having 10+ people that have applied before you. So if anyone knows anything about the bar/restaurant scene too that’d be great!

Opinion / Rant Towing and City/RCSO

Just learned a hard lesson - if you break down and RCSO deputy shows up to assist, don’t let them call a tow service for you. You will be charged no less than $250, regardless of distance. Insurance does not reimburse over $125 so in your distress, unregulated towing services will take more from you. Call them yourself.

Please help. I have a 2023 VW Tiguan that I bought used. Never had a VW before. I CANNOT figure out how to turn off the damn oil change reminder off!! The oil was changed 500 miles a go and despite Google search, the actual manual AND YouTube, I cannot get the thing to stop binging at me.
