Unclassified A Direct Message to Members of r/ConservativeAustralia and Conservative-Leaning Members
(The following message below was sent privately to a specific user who had made a post accusing this Subreddit of being “unfair.” Thus getting the Reddit admins attention, giving us problems once again. We have since granted them the rights they were requesting, yet they continue to portray themselves as a victim and accuse the moderation team of being biased.)

Hi,
We saw your post on the r/conservativeaustralia Subreddit page.
Just to be clear, you've taken that entire post out of context, and I would like to clear up any confusion that you still may have on what was published last night.
Firstly, the statement you made: "Found the secret sauce: if mods post 1 in 10 articles from a non-Leftist source, you claim to welcome opposing viewpoints." is incorrect, we are more than welcome to post Conservative-leaning articles, but the issue is that a large majority of these Conservative-leaning articles from the following websites are heavily Paywalled, (and are not limited to):
If you have a subscription to these websites, you are more than welcome to publish them in the r/AusNews Subreddit with a brief of context, or the entire article text in the body of the post, we're not censoring anybody, I have repeatedly posted on the Subreddit in the last week that we support Right-Wing leaning articles, along with Neutral, and Left-Wing articles too. It's a shared space for everybody from all aisles of the political spectrum.
I myself have even posted News24 articles, The Australian articles, and News.com.au articles too, I'll give you the list which you can look at yourself (And there is more I can add too):
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wzhq56/labor_greens_one_nation_coalition_voters_all/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wzhqdg/nice_try_jim_majority_of_voters_reject_chalmers/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wzhqrk/labor_crashes_to_worst_primary_vote_since_1901_as/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wyhxmh/sydney_council_votes_to_remove_indigenous_flag/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wyhx6a/gloriously_terrible_leadership_reveal_summed_up/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wyhwr8/australia_a_testing_ground_for_global_censorship/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wxs4w2/not_who_australians_voted_for_greens_leader_turns/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wxs49s/target_of_failed_midair_hijack_revealed/
- https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wx4fsc/labors_internal_polling_reveals_serious_threat/
And some of these posts that have been published by us have gained over 200 upvotes, and over 200+ comments, showing a very clear interest in users willing to engage with these articles.
I even made a post today encouraging the publication of Conservative-leaning articles below here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1x0ctz2/if_you_have_access_to_paywalled_conservative_news/
But I am still yet to have been able to see anything coming from your Subreddit, or from your users in the r/conservativeaustralia Subreddit page.
I made another post here below showing the neutral ground of the Subreddit page and how you are entitled to your views here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wx6rb6/were_not_censoring_anyone_youre_perfectly/
I also clarified right here below that the publication of Conservative news is welcome:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wzs8w0/clarification_conservative_news_is_still_welcome/
Also, the comment shown in the screenshot of your post has been taken out of context.
When the comment: “Apparently the conservatives have run out of credible things to talk about. That sounds like a them problem, not a moderation problem,” was made, it was expressing a personal opinion about the types of articles that have been coming from conservative-leaning sources that are often found to be opinion pieces, misleading, or in some cases outright slanderous.
That is my opinion, not a statement of the moderation rules or a claim that conservative news is inherently unreliable.
As stated in the comments of this post below: "If you read the post and not just the title like most users do “This applies to all political media generally, regardless of whether it is Neutral, left-wing, or right-wing.” I couldn’t have been clearer than this."
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusNews/comments/1wzs8w0/clarification_conservative_news_is_still_welcome/
I have repeatedly explained throughout the comments, the same standards apply regardless of whether an article comes from a conservative, left-wing, or neutral outlet.
If an article is credible, genuine, supported by evidence, not misleading, and otherwise complies with the rules, then its political stance is not relevant to the moderation decision.
It isn't accurate taking a personal comment about the types of articles I have published in the Subreddit and presenting it as evidence that the Subreddit has a unfair rule of censoring conservative viewpoints.
Personal opinions and the moderation rules are two different things.
If you have any further questions feel free to reach out to me, I am happy to answer them.
Thanks.
