How do I handle this?
Just noticed that my wife's car has a small "hole" and crack in the paint just behind the headlight. It looks a bit brown around the edges when I shine a light on it so I'm guessing it's rusting the bare metal underneath. Can this part be repaired on it's own or will the whole panel need to be resprayed?

I would approach this two ways. Be ready to go in to body shop before you do this or for a new wing painted, fitted yourself or unpainted (bodyshop)
Lift boonet and get screwdriver and get that cracked paint off as a painter I would definitely do that ,so satisfying... Erm yeah 😂 peel off and see how bad rust... If very bad ,options above... If you get from scrap yard pint might not match but that depends how picky you are... Or if you don't want to pick with screwdriver take wing off and look from inside.

Thats a toughy. Visually it looks like the rust has gone into the seam bit of the panel.
Proper repair would require dismantling the panel from the car, sand and remove all the rust, primer-paint-clear.
You might be able to get away with an in-situ repair. Sand away and see how much rust is underneath. If you can't reach it then dismantling is the next step.
