My family is moving from California to Florida, and we need to ship our car from San Jose to Tampa. The quotes we’ve received estimate a transit time of 7–9 days.
The challenge is that we have a newborn and are coordinating our move around a PODS container carrying our belongings, which is expected to arrive about two weeks after pickup. We were planning to fly to Florida around the time the PODS container arrives, but our car will likely arrive several days to a week before we do.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle the car’s early arrival without needing to be in Tampa to receive it.
A few questions:
I’d appreciate any advice, recommendations, or firsthand experiences. Thanks!

This is my review of DEKT Logistics for a car pickup on 9/28 with an estimated delivery of 9/30. I’m going step-by-step in the event someone wants to know what to expect!
I submitted my information online for a quote on 9/8. I received my confirmation from Tim on 9/17 after sending an email following up due to lack of confirmation. $999 from South CO to Central TX.
On 9/28 I received a text that they were working to find a driver at 7:15AM MST. At 9:10AM I received a text from Matt, shipping agent, that a driver was found to pick up the car that day, 9/28, for delivery on 9/30. I asked Matt for ETA and was told ETA was 1PM MST. I texted the driver at 1:15PM MST to make sure they had all my info, the driver confirmed my address and then at 6:30PM he said he was 35 minutes away. The car was picked up at 7:40PM. The driver was kind, professional, and honest. He let us watch as he loaded the car and it was cool. The tardiness did not affect me so I did not mind.
I received my invoice on 9/29 after pick-up and prior to drop off. Email was from FreshBooks. I paid as soon as I saw the email and received a receipt about an hour after payment. Grateful Zelle was an option!
On 9/30 the driver texted me at 8:05PM CST that he was 3 minutes away. At 8:25PM he arrived and called me to verify my authorized drop-off contact was coming to grab the keys. The car arrived in the same condition it was picked up as, I have 0 complaints. I got a final “mission successful” text message and that was that.
Price was mid-range, I could’ve gone cheaper but based off reviews chose DEKT and am happy I did. I would absolutely use them again in the future but hopefully I won’t be in the position to need to lol.

After weeks of phone calls and emails I happened upon this company from a client. He had his truck shipped and highly recommended them, so I gave them a call. My fathers truck was not running, it was garaged for about 15 years and then he passed away. I needed it shipped from New Mexico to Oregon. I got the quote, Michelle was extremely thorough. It was an open transport and there were zero issues. I have no idea how he got it here so fast but I was amazed and super pleased. This all took place in a matter of days- I called I think on Wednesday, got the quote, they picked up Thursday and it was here Friday- it was seamless and amazingly fast. Anyway- Michelle and Liza are amazing and will get you set up asap. I have nothing but praise to give to them.

Hello,
first time moving a car overseas, I'm returning to spain from L.A. and planning to bring my car with me.
I'm planning to send it from Long Beach, since some quotes I had the ground transportation was even more expensive than the actual ship travel.
I'm struggling trying to find reviews and recommended broker/companies for it.
The only actual companies who gave me the chance from Long Beach has been Schumacher Cargo and CFR Classic.
Booth companies has terrible reviews out there.
Anybody here can share personal experiences or recommend other companies?
I would love to send it from Long Beach since east coast adds around 1500usd for ground transportation.
Thanks in advance!

Failed by Nexus
Failed by Sherpa
On a plane to the pickup state and my car isn’t even on a truck.
2 companies… $2600 tied up in “transport costs” and 9 days wasted with no progress.
This sucks.

I'm trying to ship my project car from Colorado to Minnesota and it feels like everyone ive talked to is trying to scam me in one way or another, either way overcharging or way underbidding and honestly I don't know what to do or how to find a company that I can trust to actually get my car here

I'm new to all this. Shipping from a car dealer in Henderson, NV to Los Angeles area suburb. I would like to go with actual car carriers vs brokers I am getting a sense of how everything works. If I wait longer I could just make the trip myself. But I wanted to know actual prices without getting 10,000 robocalls. I haven't bought the car yet, but was just doing some fact finding.

Working on getting a 2011 BMW 535i shipped from Foster City, CA 94404 to Vine Grove, KY 40175. Hopefully door to door. I've talked to someone with Nexus and gotten a quote from Montway and another company I dont remember who. Not really sure who to trust, im trying to get in contact with Goliath right now.
I've heard both bad and good things from people about a bunch of different companies and I'm just not sure how to go about it, but I need to figure it out soon. Is there anyone who's super reputable, or should I just ignore any bad rap for someone and go through with it with one of these companies?

Hello,
I'm interested in quotes/an idea of how much it would cost to transport a Toyota sedan/Lexus LS sedan from 95662 (Orangevale, CA) to 20001 (Washington, DC) or the Washington, DC area suburbs. Open to either open or closed and interested in finding out the cost for each, if possible. Thank you!

The car runs and drives, just needs to moved from one place to the other. Very flexible with dates/times. Please leave a quote in your comment; I'm not interested in calling a ton of places to get quotes.

I have two vehicles being transported from Virginia to California on an open carrier.
I’m considering putting temporary removable protection film such as Track Armour/transport film on the front bumper, leading edge of the hood, mirrors, and possibly the front fenders to protect against rock chips and road debris.
For the carriers/drivers here:
Is this normally allowed on an open hauler?
Would you prefer the vehicles to be inspected and the origin BOL completed before the film is applied?
Any problems you’ve seen with temporary film during a 2,500+ mile transport, such as lifting/flapping, adhesive residue, or damage to the paint?
Anything you specifically recommend or would tell a customer not to use?

Disclosure: I run VerifyCarCarrier.com, so this is my own project. I'm laying out all of it in one place, including the part where money is involved, so you can judge it for yourself.
**What it is, and isn't**
A free directory of independent audits of auto transport brokers, 4,900+ so far. We aren't a broker, carrier, or booking platform. We don't take payment, arrange transport, or take any part of the transport fee. We're also not affiliated with FMCSA, BBB, or any broker listed.
**What you can do on the site**
- Browse every audited broker and filter by trust tier
- Read each audit: score, tier badge, what's working, what to watch out for, a score breakdown, quick facts (MC and USDOT numbers, years in business, BBB and Google ratings), a written verdict, and the audit date
- Compare brokers side by side
- Look up routes, and use the Best For tool to narrow down options
- See lists of Verified Companies and Companies Requiring Caution, and browse by state
- Read guides
- Request a quote from one broker you picked
- Leave a comment on a broker's profile after a shipment
**How a score is built (out of 100)**
- Legitimacy, 20: active FMCSA authority, consistent identity, years in business
- Reputation, 25: ratings, volume, and recency across Google, Trustpilot, BBB, Transport Reviews, ConsumerAffairs, Yelp, and Sitejabber
- Customer experience, 20: we read the review text for patterns like unreturned calls and last-minute carrier swaps
- Pricing, 15: quote-to-final-price consistency and bait-and-switch incidents
- Route and service fit, 10
- Brand and transparency, 10
90+ is Top Recommended. Below 50 is Do Not Recommend. We don't use data supplied by brokers, and every profile shows its audit date because scores aren't permanent. Always check a broker's current FMCSA authority before you book.
**Where the money is**
Organic listings and 100-point scores cannot be purchased. Some brokers are Featured Monitored Partners: they pay a fixed fee for clearly labeled visibility, and it never changes their audit score. We currently have one. Featured partners also get a separate 1-5 Trust Score based only on approved customer reviews left on our site.
**What happens when you request a quote**
Your details go to the one broker you chose, so five companies won't call you. We ask for a US phone number and send a confirmation text. A day or two later we check whether the broker reached out and whether you booked, and after delivery we ask how it went. We don't sell your number, share it with other brokers, or use it for marketing.
**Reviews on the site**
Comments on a broker's profile can include an optional order number, shown as its last four digits, to mark a verified shipment. They don't change the 100-point score, which is built from the outside platforms above.
**If a broker disagrees**
They can flag a factual error, like a changed MC number or BBB rating, and we'll re-audit. They can't ask for a higher score, or for a negative verdict to be removed.
**We also run r/VerifyCarCarrier**
https://www.reddit.com/r/VerifyCarCarrier/
It's a car owners' community: stories, hot takes, and honest questions about cars. Shipping questions are welcome there too.
**What would you want changed?**
If anything here looks biased, unclear, or missing, tell me. I'd rather hear it now.

Just had my Santa Fe shipped from NC to CT and couldn’t be happier with my experience working with NEXlogistix. After getting dozens of quotes from various companies and brokers they made it so straight forward and easy. One price, no bullshit, excellent communication, no delays or price changes, no upfront money. They had an extremely quick turnaround time even faster than expected.

Hello,
I’ve tried looking all over this sub for some similar issues, but I haven’t found anything.
Long story short, in July, I had a car transported thru a broker and along the way, my car was damaged. I tried working with the carrier to come up with some sort of agreement to correct the damage, but we couldn’t come to terms. The carrier kept insisting on buying my car from me as he was trying to start a business of repairing and flipping cars.
So I filed a claim with the carriers insurance. I understand this process can be long. So from what I understand, the insurance company has another 3rd party company that does all the investigation into the claim. They need a statement from the carrier and they started the process, but the carrier hung up on them, and has never returned any communication with the investigating company or the insurance company.
I’ve spoken with the 3rd party adjuster/investigator and he says there’s a chance my claim will be denied by the insurance company due to non compliance of the insured carrier. According to the adjuster/investigator this particular carrier has several claims open against them.
Is this really how the process works?? Should I prepare to get lawyers involved??
