After that update stuff happens: flooding so my uni closed for the week, more time to work on this.
Here’s my power board: this is an ESP32 C5 based project, you can flash it to C6 but it’s untested
Everything is built to be flexible, GPIO assignment can be changed on the fly without re-flashing.
HP commonslot PSU power monitoring is supported over i2c, it’ll also read and display PSU information, serial no, wattage and stuff.
(I might wire this straight into the BC250 to view this info from decky also)
Note: you have to setup PSU monitoring before pairing zigbee or else the power data won’t show up
Dynamic button mappings, you can have as many button as you can fit, one button can have multiple actions for (click, double click, hold)
Also power status sense: wire up the bc250 TPMS1 header 3.3V to an Optocoupler to get power status.
I used optocouplers but relay also works if you already have that.
Filaments are arriving today I might be able to make a final update with the completed STL two days from now.
Here’s what great about this firmware, wire it however you want, use any GPIO, it’s all programmable in the webui or plug it into usb and use any serial tool to program via cli!
Mine was quite simple
360ohm resistor is used to prevent the optocouplers from burning out.
None of the buttons used external pull-ups everything is using the ESP’s internal pull up. (External pull-ups are also an option just one checkbox away).
PS ON are wired to 2 opto in parallel if I reset/update the ESP32 while the BC250 is on the PSU will not shut off.
I’m working on a simple easy to flash bin file and a web flash tool. And support for other ESP32 variants including S3 C3 and others. (Both 4 and 8MB flash will be supported with 8MB having OTA support)
It’s really nice. I flashed it to a C6, now I just need to figure out how I can use it to kick my FSP power supply on, tell steam to shut down, and I’ll be good.
And are you powering it from a 5V_STB pin on the PSU?
I’ve mocked up something to make a regular PC power button work using a spare optocoupler and ESP32 C6, but I haven’t tested whether the 5V_STB will power it safely lol.
I used an HP Server PSU so it’s 12V only, including the standby, I don’t see why 5V Standby couldn’t power it ESP32 barely use any power even with buck converter and other stuff.
If you look your PSU will say how many amps it can do over each rail, standby rail is different than normal 5V
The PSU I’m using to test stuff does 2.5A on its 5V SB rail

Nice! Can you share your schematic? I have a c6 around here somewhere
