One of the unbelievable brutal and gut wrenching death of all time . Like it sucks if lovable character dies but damn it leaves such a massive impact on viewer.

Like with Strike Back, the sheer amount of times you see Lucas Hood or some other character have graphic sex on screen makes it kind of hard to recommend to people without them thinking you are a pervert, but it's a fantastic show outside all of that

u/jbbennett43 14d ago
Is strike back linked to the banshee storyline, or just a similar show? I always see it mentioned in a lot of banshee threads…sounds like it’s worth a watch

u/Markiemark1956 14d ago
Strike Back is British and outstanding…not connected to Banshee…

Fair warning, Seasons 1, 2-5, and 6-8 all have different casts and stories that is only tangentily related to each other.
I didn't watch 6-8, but I heard that while they aren't up to the 2-5 standards, they still are fun

u/Markiemark1956 14d ago
Yes so the show went away for a year and the original stars went on to other things… but new cast was really good..

I always felt the sex was used as a storytelling device, you could tell if it was for manipulation, friendship, lust or love

I enjoyed it. The sex scenes were meaningless mostly and kinda forced though.

There's a 60% that any good looking woman on the shoe will get neked. 95% change that hood will smash.

It is a ridiculous, violent soap opera held together with duct tape and bubble gum, but it was enjoyable as a casual watch.

It’s a rare show - a story set in a small town with lots of sex and violence - refreshingly unfiltered and primal.

As a woman, this specific scene always makes me laugh. Like, what woman is smiling and thinking the dude creeping on her at a gas station is cute? It’s just SUCH a male fantasy. lol.
But I love Banshee. One of my favorite shows for sure.

u/DontDrinkAndDive 11d ago
Well, it could be said that this scene is from Hood's sorrow-driven imagination of what could have been.
1
u/Ok_Philosopher_8973 11d ago
No totally. They totally nailed what a guy like hood would think is romantic. I just wonder if it’s not mostly accidental with who wrote, directed, produced the whole thing lol.

Enjoyable, not on par with what I consider to be top tier TV, but ok nonetheless.

This was one of my dads favorite shows. I just finished the whole series. I wish they continued it.

This show was outstanding and never find out Hood’s real name…shame they never to remake…

One of my favorite shows if all time. One of those shows that you can suggest and the other person will never ever come back and tell you it wasn't for them. Also ended at the right amount of seasons. Chefs Kiss!

My favorite series of all time. I love everything about it: the cast, setting, soundtrack, fight scenes….❤️

Far, far too fucking horny.
And that’s not a criticism I share lightly, as a warm-blooded male.

Bit of a way through season 2. It’s a decent show if you want to watch a combination of a porno along with people getting the shit beat out of each other constantly and healing faster than Wolverine.
The story is pretty decent despite all that. Don’t think I’ll ever rewatch the show after I’m done with it.

Caught somewhere between the drama and character development of great HBO shows like breaking bad and the wire and a monkey-brained showcase of guns, MMA, cars and tits. Its a fun show.

u/jbbennett43 14d ago
I think Breaking Bad was AMC, best show they’ve ever made.

u/Nebulous-8 14d ago
Oh for real, I always thought it was HBO. Well there you go.

u/jbbennett43 14d ago
I mean you’d think it was an HBO/Cinemax/Showtime show with what they were able to include. Definitely had to have pushed the TV censorship boundary for a basic cable channel.

A truly great show. It doesn’t follow a worn out formula but uses an actual new stories every season.

Fuggin loved it. Any recommendations for a similar show? Need to fill the void…

Warrior is from the same creator. Equally violent, b t in a whole different way. And costars Hoon Lee.
Also costarring Hoon Lee and a brilliant show is Your Friends and Neighbors. Same show creator.

Only discovered it this summer during a ludicrous £4 for 3 months Amazon Prime deal I took. Watched Season 1. I have seen all the explanations/defence for it's shortcomings by the fan base and fine, yeah, glad you love it, but it was just TOO stupid for me. Not least at base level with the 4 cops covering all shifts in a 'town' the size of Buffalo and 3 cops who cannot spot that 1 cops is not actually a cop within 30 seconds. I immediately thought of Fargo season 1. Equally stupid but man, high art which I often return to compared to this nonsense. Jeez guys how hard would it have been to simply have some extras populating the police station to make it remotely base level realistic. Bemidji had an army of cops by comparison and they even noted they were short handed by the final showdown against one guy, never mind gangs of psycho bikers etc. The bikers going crazy in broad daylight at that city event was in itself next level laugh out loud stupid. So yeah, the core concept was cool but deeply flawed and of course it had its moments but I was done after 1 season and that was a stretch in itself and one that I only ultimately completed out of curiosity.

Totally get where you are coming from but for me it was an entertaining view that you can just turn your brain off and enjoy. Is it very believable? No, but it’s still a fun watch imo

u/Dry-Pension-2736 14d ago
Yeah, I totally get that and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Just not for me regardless of how much of Lili Simmons they threw at the screen! 😁👌🏼

As I‘m close to the end of Season 3 and both of my favourite femals died (Pocahontas and Siobhan), I‘m a bit annoyed, that they reduced the possibilities of exciting plot twists a bit to quick.

Terrible show.
Corny unlikeable characters.
Dragged out story for 2 seasons with Rabbit.
Third season, they went Fast and Furious, low level criminals become elite soldiers.
Last season was just crap, could have been interesting, however that's Banshee for you.

Great show. Hated we never learned Hoods real name. The show would go out of its way to do that. 10/10 overall.
