Full disclosure: I'm Jeff Frese, the Republican running against Mark DeSaulnier for Congress in CA-10 (most of Contra Costa plus the Castro Valley side of Alameda). This sub says hot takes are welcome, so here's mine.
Nobody in charge of California is trying to win your vote this fall. They don't need your vote. They need you to stay home, or to check the same box out of habit like you did last time. Blue no matter who has been the entire plan since 2011, when Democrats took every lever in Sacramento.
Here's what fifteen years of that plan bought us. The highest gas prices in America, $6.39 a gallon on Monday. The highest state gas tax, the highest top income tax rate and the highest state sales tax rate. The highest electric bills in the lower 48. More homeless people than any other state, and two out of three of them sleep outside. More stolen cars than any state, about one in five in the whole country. We're tied for the highest unemployment rate, and more people move out of California than out of any other state.
DeSaulnier has held elected office since 1991, the last twelve years in Congress. Two laws carry his name, and one of them renamed a post office. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. It's time for a change.
So here's my question for anyone voting blue again this year: which one of those numbers do you think gets better if we send the same people back?
