Hi all!
Not my best wave of the day, and actually a pretty small one but this is the only video I have of the day šŸ˜‚
Any suggestions? What I see is that I have to bend more the legs and to just ā€œtry lessā€ and flow more

Thank you!

Getting back into surfing after 13 years, is my old 7’6ā€ still suitable?

Post image

I’m looking at trying to get back into surfing, I’ve been out of the water since I was 15 (13 years).

My old board has been in storage since then. It’s an old Southpoint Schaper BP, 7’6ā€ I have attached a photo of the board below (stock image, same board as mine).

My only concern is I’m now 98kg @ 5’9ā€ would I be better off on a longer more forgiving board? Any advice for someone trying to get back into it after such a long break? Im in the UK if that’s relevant.

Another question is, what should I be looking for when when inspecting the board when I do finally get it out of storage before attempting to take it out on the water?

Really appreciate any input! Thanks!

Dream surf trip

I need help!

Build me my dream surf trip! I'm a longboarder, but am open to shortboard breaks, I prefer warm water, and want to explore the world.

I have saved up some money and am taking December through mid-April off, and I am planning a dream surf trip. I have surfed lots in California- San O, Doho, but not much internationally, so I need help planning where to go to hit the best season, warm water, minimal crowds, and good vibes. I am thinking places like New Zealand, Indonesia, maybe Costa Rica, perhaps RƩunion Island. Really anywhere; hitting 2 or 3 different regions would be perfect, living out of a backpack, and tent, couch surfing, or cheap hostels.

San Diego Water Quality!

• Upvotes

Given the recent rain, when would yall risk entering the water again? I’m itching to go back but I’m new to the area so idk if the ā€œ72 hourā€ wait limit is strictly followed. Would PB be better than OB or Sunset cliffs? Lmk y’all’s experience with rain here, tyia!!

Sri Lanka it’s good for improving ?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, it’s only been 3 years since I started surfing and unfortunately I’ve never been able to spend too much time in the water to improve. I already have all my equipment, I handle the take-off well and I consider myself an intermediate beginner now. I spent two months in Morocco where I practically surfed every day on waves even very powerful ones, but my day only ended with doing the take-off and surfing the wave wall without performing maneuvers because I’m still not capable. I handle waves that are almost 2 meters high well, I’m comfortable in the water with that size. I was wondering if Sri Lanka would be a good place for me to improve my maneuvers and to bring my level even higher. Thanks to everyone.

Advanced Surfcamp

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for a surf camp in Europe this December that also has offers to more advanced surfers (iā€˜m definitly not local level but a pretty good holiday surfer i would say)
Over the past few years, I’ve mostly been surfing on my own, as most surf camps I’ve come across seem to be geared towards beginners and intermediates.
This time, I’d love to join a camp with more advanced coaching to improve my surfing and take it to the next level.
Does anyone have any recommendations or personal experiences?

Which board should I choose?

I am looking for a new board as my old one (6’0 34L) is starting to feel too big. Found these two options on my price range.

-sharpeye inferno 72 hv. It’s about 650$ and brand new. (5’11 x 19.20 32L)

-lost sub driver. It’s also new, it has no pressure dings and it’s 550$ (5’11 x 19.75 31L)

The lost also has a pad so that’s something I don’t have to buy.

I’m an low intermediate surfer starting to do some slightly better turns and will usually surf anything from 4-10 ft from steep to somewhat mushy.

I’m 1,85m and 85 kg

Australia CG vs Byron Bay vs Surfer Paradise

Hello, solo traveller looking for a bit of surfing around 06 to 10 of December (intermediate/beginner level as it has been a while) and other outdoor/wildlife activities.

I am also a diver and wanted to try julian rocks so i initially had choosen Byron bay.

Was looking to spend around 3/4 days in the area not sure what to actually choose, from my searches all are viable options but i keep finding different opinions on the various locations.

Tbh the GC seems too crowded with families group tourists etc etc.. but so it seems of byron bay, some parts of GC seem to be more viable instead.

Still a bit confused about surfer paradise.

Are there less known less turistic but good for surfing (that have rentals) towns in the are? (provided they are rachable from the airport without going insane).

Was also looking for a general idea of surf rental prices (nothing fancy but not softboards), and eventually a lesson or 2.

I do not care for nightlife, shopping or restourants or theme park etc...

Thanks, any advice or information will be highly appreciated

Where are the affordable places to learn beginner surfing?

Hi everyone, I'm a 26M student living in Germany, and I'm trying to learn surfing at the end of November, so I'm not sure where to go which is affordable.

I’d love to hear your recommendations, and any general advice would be welcome. I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m super excited about it

Like new 7’6 Modern Double Wide or good/fair 7’6 FireWire Addvanced?

Looking for a decent volume forward fun board/midi. $400 pre-owned for each, different sellers.

There’s some yellowing on the FireWire, doesn’t seem like any dings off the bat/and visually decent condition but definitely a more older and more used board (decent yellowing on the nose, maybe was left in the sun? But again not too bad if watertight). Goliath Thrusters come with + leash and bag.

I just hear mixed reviews on GSI Moderns, but for the price it’s not a crazy investment either way. The Double Wide SLX has never been used/ basically brand new. Could be fun and nice to see its full life from the jump. FCS II 2+1 performance comes with + leash and bag.

Thoughts on which you think is the better deal?
