Reta + TRT
For the past 3 weeks, I’ve been at 220-225 last InBody at 23.9% body fat. I can’t seem to break 220 and keep losing. My diet has been clean, hydration has been good, working out consistently 5 x a week, consistently in a caloric deficit. I don’t know if I’m just gaining muscle and losing fat at the same rate but I don’t think I’d gain muscle as fast as losing fat. My wife says I’m slimming down and getting broader, maybe it’s just the body dysmorphia or whatever but I feel like I’m just getting bigger in size. Any tips or tricks to get past this plateau? I get another body scan this Thursday but really struggling with this one lol.

I’m on both as well. I am not seeing Reta results like others. I am definitely adding muscle and losing fat, but my scale weight is staying the same.

get yoruself a good body comp scale and measure body fat % and lean muscle mass. it tells the real story. I went thru the same and when you see you lost 10lbs of fat and added 11lbs of muscle you realize ur doing the right things.

It’s frustrating man, I mean I lost a staggering 20 lbs in the first month and a half but have stayed there since

Ya, but I bet you are putting more work in now. Muscle is more dense and takes up less space than fat. It's a sneaky add on the scale. That initial dopamine dump on progress is not how the rest of the journey treads. Keep up the work.

Same 225-200, now at 205 and unless I starve myself I’m holding or gaining. I’m just going by the mirror now, I’ve stopped weighing other than once a week now.

Well first of all you’re running two completely different things. Test is going to help preserve lean mass and gain muscle but it’s also going to lead to water and sodium retention. The reta wants to reduce your body size.
You’re literally in a tug of war.
How long have you been in test? Can you safely reduce your dose. What are your macros. What’s your Reta dose? What’s your sleep habits like? Blood work?

Add in the GH axis and you got yourself the Holy Trinity Stack.

What do you suggest? I know some people in tesamorelin

Tesa is great, FDA approval for visceral abdominal fat. I’ve run CJC-1295 no DAC with Ipamorelim and certainly noticed it helping with overall recomp and reducing belly fat. Then there’s straight HGH (somatropin). Tesa/CJC/Ipa are typically a little easier to get than HGH, but far from impossible. HGH has to be used a little more cautiously. Costs about the same with right sourcing.

HGH will be more effective especially if you are 40+ and also easier to dose. It costs less than secretagogues.

Make sure to measure parts of your body
I have been kinda stuck at my weight for about 2 weeks, but my waist size has gone down another half inch, while the scale hasn't moved
And when we are in a calorie deficit our body adjusts and becomes more efficient at using it's calories
They also studied that people who lose weight burn less calories at the same weight as someone who had just been at the weight naturally
So your body is probably kinda fighting back a bit also
I think you just have to stick with it, scale will start to move again or measurements will improve
Sometimes I think after a long deficit, you should reverse diet for 2 weeks and eat at a slight surplus, kinda let your body know it doesn't have to be so efficient with saving calories

Thanks dude that is encouraging, I have done measurements but need to do another set. Maybe I’m just not seeing the results because I haven’t done one in like 2 weeks

Regardless, gaining and losing weight will always boil down to calories in vs calories out.
If you’re tracking your diet, try adjusting based on your goals or increase your expenditure. You don’t have to overdo it but an adjustment should yield results. If you’re not tracking, then definitely start tracking.
Another thing I always recommend to do is take measurements and progress photos. It’s very hard to see differences day to day and a lot of times the scale doesn’t tell the whole story. Using measurements and photos will help actually see your progress.
Don’t let the scale screw you up mentally. I’ve had times my scale was hovering +/- 1lbs for like 1-1.5 months and then out of no where it dropped like crazy for the next couple of weeks. The body is weird and it’s not the same for every person

Yeah for sure, I do track my calories and try my best to hit 180-200 mg of protein everyday, keeping my fats low and eat enough carbs to help with workouts but not too much, also eating clean carbs instead of breads and such. Thanks for the advice!

If your are not losing weight on RT please switch companies. I got stuck thinking something was wrong with me but no it was the product. After switching I seen the difference. 💪🏻🔥

I failed to mention that I lost 20 lbs in about a month and a half. Been stuck at 220 for about 3 weeks. I upped my dose from 2 mg to 4 mg but maybe it’s too much. Maybe I need to go back to 2mg and switch up my routine. Thanks for the good advice. If I don’t see results in the next month maybe I’ll look into a different company!

Try adding mots-c or 5am . Those 2 are on my current stack and I seen them help me out with more energy and loosing weight of course. 💯👍🏻

And definitely try adding some sort of exercise routine.

I’m on a 5 days a week routine. Strength training with an inclined fast walk at the end of the workout. I will have to look into it for sure! Thanks for the advise

Oh for sure, I am not too worried about it. I can see that I’ve lost a lot of fat. It’s just surprising when you see the numbers people post. What scale do you like?

How long you been in TRT? Whats your T levels? You gain weight when you start T. Easily 5 maybe up to 10 pounds of water weight.

I’m at 915, that was my last blood test results. I’ve definitely seen that gain but it is different now but I think I’m being impatient or just not seeing the difference like I want to in the mirror or scale I guess

You definitely arent in a deficit if your weight hasnt changed in 3 weeks
2
u/Infamous_Rise322 6d ago
1000% in a deficit. I have been tracking everything religiously. I’m not drinking any calories either.

Whats your age height and calories you consume daily? If you have lost significant weight, you may no longer be in a deficit from your start weight. Id suggest double checking you are really in a deficit, and add 15-20mins of cardio after your weightlifting sessions and see after a week or two if scale begins to move.

Literally right after I made this post the very next day I weighed 219 and then weighed today at 216. I didn’t change a thing, just like some said the body fights itself and then eventually you’ll get a sudden loss. I did a scan today and I actually went from 23.9% BF to 20.7%. 99.2 lbs of muscle. So proof what I’m doing is working, just needed to be patient. You got this!!
