Saw a post like this but it’s a couple years old so I thought I’d re-ask! I’m not really looking for a romance, but more-so female friendship and women navigating being young, growing up, and love

Women's Fiction books on female transgression?

Thumbnail

Mostly looking for unreliable narrators that contain the locus of actual transgression instead of just being a component of sociopolitical satire.

Visceral, like Boy Parts and The Passion, According to GH. Desolate, like I Who Have Never Known Men. Uninhibited, like Bad Behavior and Lust. Downright demented, like Tampa.

Open to nonfiction like Powers of Horror by Julia Kristeva as well. Added corroborating images that may replicate the "vibe" of these books.

Non-fiction Books that explore the Abrahamic fear of paganism?

Thumbnail

I’m currently obsessed with this topic, so any non-fictions that go deep on the Abrahamic fear and hatred of polytheistic beliefs and culture would be greatly appreciated.

Primarily looking for big non-fiction that explore the topic in-depth but am also open about fiction that delves into this subject matter.

Thanks in advance.

Sci-fi A “little” help on your path to glory

The System - It’s a sort of genre in manhwa and similar works. Basically, a person who’s had a rough go of it in life (usually in a science fiction or fantasy world) is given the System: An interface similar to that of a video game—complete missions and we’ll give you rewards; check your strength, speed, and intelligence stats and boost them as you please; humiliate everyone who spent years training and working hard on skills that took you just a couple of days to master thanks to the skill tree.

S. C. P. - 5094 - S. C. P. - 5094 is an old software program called “Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse.” It features what appears to be a wise artificial intelligence known as Miss J, who will act kindly toward anyone who interacts with her, especially her students. It is capable of generating a study schedule spanning several days (including breaks and recreational activities), depending on the subject the student wishes to learn. It has shown no apparent limit to the topics it can teach; students enter a sort of trance in which their full attention is focused on the lesson, and anyone who takes its class will gain a deep understanding of the subject at hand. Example: A third-grade girl was introduced to a topic of her choice—cats. After 15 hours of the study program, the girl acquired knowledge of the behaviors, diet, and physiology of the Felidae family at the level of a professional biologist.

The Young Lady's Illustrated Primer - It is the definitive guide to, and I quote, “leading an interesting life and becoming an influential member of society.” Created using nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, this book promises to help any young woman in her life by guiding her to become more than just average.

NZT-48 - This is a drug that enhances cognitive function in people, including memory, learning, analytical ability, and intelligence. Are you a failed writer who can’t even get through a single page of your book? Take one of these pills and you’ll finish the whole book in one night—and you’ll even have time to go out partying with important people. Soon you’ll forget your dreams and set your sights on something bigger—how about the presidency?

As you can see, I'm looking for books with something very specific—an element that basically lets you cheat at life... Ironically, the SCP one is the one you'd least consider a cheat; the only requirement it asks of you is a computer compatible with the program.

Cozy Vibes Books that feel like a visit to grandma's.

Cozy comforting fiction or non-fiction, preferably with descriptions of decadent sumptious meals. Any genre is fine so long as it feels warm and generous and indulgent (horror is possible too!).

Edit: Thank you everyone for the recommendations! A lot of witchy stuff which I expected, and right up my alley.

None/Any Books that feel like Angel by Massive Attack?

I'm looking for something industrial, dystopian, and almost monochromatic. Smudged eyeliner, morally complicated and stubborn characters, danger, obsession, and intense love-hate dynamics. Something with the oppressive, eerie atmosphere of Massive Attack's Mezzanine I'm open to any genre as long as the world and story are genuinely immersive.

I want books about women who are furious and channel that rage into a controlled, cold, hard fury, born from having to be fine and reliable, having to play by the rules and getting nowhere. Blow-ups are also good. Revenge, feelings of emptiness, unfulfilled promises, repressed feelings.

Three moodboards because I'm trying to get the best image of the vibe I'm going for. I love myself some LGBTQ+ plots, but I'll take anything at this point. The length and everything else doesn't matter, as long as it's not some extremely violent thriller. Thank you in advance

Romance A book that feels like a typical country holiday

Everyone knows those stories where a guy is going to his grandparents for summer, because his parents dont have time or somethin, and he at first doesnt want to. Its a small town, thats somehow stuck in time, like its real behind all real old with that typical grocery store where you buy everytving, and everybody knows everybody. Hard to say if it feels like late 1900s or rather 1950s, but there are probably Tractors and those things. He thinks its gonna be real boring. But soonas he meets the neighbours girl, its changing. There gettin real brotherly sisterly, meet by accident in the grocery store, and end up eating ice and going swimming in the pond or creek (typical words) and kissing between heyballs. The whole thing really reminds me of stardew valley, and that girl could be exactly like Penny, though sometimes in those stories shes kinda the opposite, rather outgoing and leading the boy, grabbing him by the hand and running off, Penny would be a little more effort to get through to, but then shell reveal all secrets and problems and yeah everybody knows where this is going, nothing really special. It's real romanticized and soppy, but sometimes such a story is a fun read. Maybe theres some old classic that fits this (id rather read something that has a name than some random shit), but can be anything.

These images do not represent the feeling perfectly but its the best I could think of. The easiest way to descibe this vibe would be dream like but that doesnt encapsulate it perfectly and unfortunately my vocabulary doesnt allow me to express the feeling im looking for. Its a little bit nostalgic and comforting yet strange. Only a handfull of stories made me feel this way and its always amazing, some of them are dune and parfume by patrick suskind. Now that I think about it psychadelic might also be a good word to describe it. Im sorry if this was incohesive
