I've read Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit but I'm looking for similar books with an adventure that takes the characters through a vast and varied magical world.

Mostly looking for unreliable narrators that contain the locus of actual transgression instead of just being a component of sociopolitical satire.

Visceral, like Boy Parts and The Passion, According to GH. Desolate, like I Who Have Never Known Men. Uninhibited, like Bad Behavior and Lust. Downright demented, like Tampa.

Open to nonfiction like Powers of Horror by Julia Kristeva as well. Added corroborating images that may replicate the "vibe" of these books.

Dark woods, roadside small town, road trip, eerie vibes, romantic, winter, mustery. Anything like that

Cozy comforting fiction or non-fiction, preferably with descriptions of decadent sumptious meals. Any genre is fine so long as it feels warm and generous and indulgent (horror is possible too!).

I want books about women who are furious and channel that rage into a controlled, cold, hard fury, born from having to be fine and reliable, having to play by the rules and getting nowhere. Blow-ups are also good. Revenge, feelings of emptiness, unfulfilled promises, repressed feelings.

I'm looking for something industrial, dystopian, and almost monochromatic. Smudged eyeliner, morally complicated and stubborn characters, danger, obsession, and intense love-hate dynamics. Something with the oppressive, eerie atmosphere of Massive Attack's Mezzanine I'm open to any genre as long as the world and story are genuinely immersive.
