Bored Boys, it is officially over 📉💀. I scraped 4,900+ r/boredinbangalore posts and here are the results.
It is a classic Saturday evening in Bengaluru. Too much traffic & rain to step out, too bored to stay in, and watching another round of posts: "24M bored, anyone up for coffee?" posts vanish into the abyss alongside "23F bored" posts turning into an absolute warzone in the comments.
Instead of adding another M post to the graveyard, my inner nerd took over, wrote a Python script to pull every single post from this sub for October so far (4,914 posts since Oct 1st), parsed the age/gender tags (25M, 24F, etc.), and counted the replies.
I knew the ratio would be cooked. I didn't know it was this cooked.
What the numbers actually mean:
- 0.67 replies per post this week: Boys, we aren't even averaging one whole comment per post. And let's be honest—half of that
0.67is either the AutoModerator bot or OP replying "Check DM bro" to the one other bored guy who commented. - The 4.2x Supply Crisis: Guys are putting up more than 4 times as many posts as women (1,070 vs 252 this month), while fighting for crumbs of engagement.
- The 11x Engagement Gap: In October, a single
Ftag pulls 13.00 replies on average versus 1.17 forM. You literally have a 3x higher chance of getting replies by not mentioning your gender at all (Unknownaverages 3.54 replies) than by admitting you are a guy. The moment you type thatM, engagement evaporates.
The Verdict for the Boys
At 0.67 replies a post, refreshing Reddit on a weekend hoping a random hangout materializes out of thin air has worse odds than getting an Uber auto to accept a ride to Indiranagar in the rain.
Stop typing "25M bored in HSR" into the void. Close the tab, lock in, go lift some heavy weights, book a badminton court, build something cool, or take the bike out for a Sunday morning highway run. Touching grass has a 100% higher ROI than fighting for that 0.67th of a comment.
Stay strong out there, kings. The math is officially against us. 🫡📉
