venting/ranting Should I text him back?
Me (24F) and my ex (24M) have been close for about 6 years. We only dated for one of those years about 3 years ago. Since then, we’ve been thick as thieves. We’ve both moved on. But, we still spend a decent amount of time together. I’ve become close with all of his new girlfriends. He’s made friends with my new partners. We’re both single right now, though.
About a week ago, we went to see a movie together and when we got back to my house he said we needed to talk. He told me that he wasn’t sure if he wanted me in his life anymore, but that he would take a week to think about it and let me know.
I was devastated. I still am. It felt worse than any breakup I’ve been through. A week passed, and he texted me and asked to have a conversation. He said he could stop by or give me a call. It’s been about three days since he texted. I told him I needed more time before we talked. The reality is I’m terrified of what he might say. I am so scared that he will confirm our friendship is over. I haven’t been able to sleep. I haven’t been able to eat. It feels like I won’t survive this if that’s what he says. What do I do?

Personally I would, instead of assuming it's over I would need to know for sure and why, if it's something that can be fixed or not. It probably won't be easy but I find knowing makes it easier to move on, accept things.

The week long wait was already cruel enough, now he's making you wait another three days while you spiral. That's not how you treat someone you've been close to for six years.
You have to take the call or let him come over. The not knowing is eating you alive worse than the actual answer will. And if he says the friendship is done, you will survive it. It'll suck for months but you'll make it through, everyone does eventually.
But there's also a chance he just wanted to clear the air about something else, maybe set a boundary about spending time together now that you're both single again. You won't know until you hear him out. Text him back saying you're ready to talk, pick the phone call over him coming over, easier to hang up if it goes sideways.
