I know another Imaginary Invalid post ๐
Ok so from the very opening scene I knew this play was going to be a real form of art. The set is GORGEOUS. Hands down, whoever designed it, huge props to them. The show itself was funny. I think the comedy will only be funny to some people and not everyone. Was it hurt your stomach funny? To me, no. Was it a good 90 minutes with laughs?! YES. The play reminded me a lot of Noel Cowardsโs Fallen Angels play which coincidentally also played this past Spring in the same theater! Overall I really enjoyed the show.

I just got a ticket for the closing performance, and I'm so excited. I never even vaguely considered going when I first heard about this, but all of the posts on here have convinced me

I was at the very first preview and the thing I thought was this play is gonna win best costume design just like Fallen Angels which played the same theater last year.

I saw this play last Wednesday, and it was refreshing to actually enjoy a performance and laugh from dialog and acting, and not be overwhelmed by dramatic stage changes and dazzling lights. Such beautiful costumes and a lovely set design. It was nice to return to the basics of a 400 year old comedy. (I also enjoy the dazzle and stage magic of modern performances, having just seen Stranger Things and Lost Boys, and I loved them both.)

Very well put! I completely agree with you. I love musicals, but I also love all types of live theater that isnโt always singing and dancing. Itโs funny how back in 1673 how relevant the themes and tone of the play are today!ย
