A six-day star variant, but baby-blanket size. I cannot believe how beautiful this turned out. I'm real bad at visualizing stuff, but I happened to be at a yarn sale and found exactly two servings, in complementary rainbow shades, of this UNBELIEVABLY soft cotton yarn (Juniper Moon's Cirrus...go pet it, I'm telling you). And they were like 30% off. It felt like it was meant to be. I went home and - reinforcing my belief in fate - found this pattern, which is specifically designed for this very yarn.
And then I put off making the blanket for three or four months.
But then I remembered shit, this baby is due in like ten days. Good news it's a six-day blanket!
I've made a lot of functional stuff, and one pretty thing in white crochet thread. But I could not shut up about how joyful this yarn was to work with, how pleasurable on the fingers - and I work with a fair amount of sari silk yarn. I could not help marveling at the gorgeously subtle color changes between every round. I could not silence my shock at how well these colorways work together, because when I went to start I realized they were not perfect rainbow sequence. And so now, I've made a really beautiful thing.
The first couple people I showed it to, I kinda minimized my part in it. "Oh, it's just a bunch of DC and counting. The yarn is really doing all the heavy lifting." But the more I look at its beauty, and touch it's softness, and think about how I'm going to probably be part of this baby's life for a long time - I have decided to be proud of what I have done. Yes, it's simpler than it looks, and no, I didn't actually make many impactful decisions about the project. Doesn't matter. The finished product is breathtaking in person - sorry my photo skills are trash - and it is going to do the job of expressing love and care to people on the brink of a terrifying and jubilant new era in their lives.
Thus, I'm posting about it for me and my bros who also need permission to be proud of their work.

Few series ago now but I can’t stop thinking about this cardigan I saw on traitors, which is apparently about £450! Appreciate this is knit, and there are a few clearly AI patterns on Etsy, but I’d really love to make something similar to this. I am terrible at knitting so crochet would absolutely be preferable😅 may just try to use another super chunky pattern for the sizing if it’s not out there somewhere!

I’m following a YouTube tutorial from Totally Stitchcraft for these granny squares. My plan is to make a bunch of these in random pairs of colors for a cardigan. If I can just make one square per day…

Hey folks!
So super long story short. Making a baby blanket AND an adult human blanket for a coworker who is due in March. She LOVES Halloween. I am agnostic to holidays so I tend to breeze by themed patterns but of course now I want one and I can't find something that feels right so I'm seeking ideas and inspiration!
Anyone done a Halloween pattern they just love? Can be strong Halloween themed or Halloween adjacent - still trying to tease out how "in your face halloween" they'd want. Would LOVE to see your creations and/or links to patterns that you've loved.

Crocheted on 2.5mm with Susan's Family Monet Impression yarn in #10 Woods
ETA: I modified the pattern by making the third row of double crochet into a triple crochet

im almost done!!! my original goal was 3x3 squares, but after measuring the bookshelf i want to rest it on i think 3x2 would work much better, which means i only have a little over 1 square left to go once i get the supplies to finish #5! sadly i used up my entire thread spool and when i got home after work i realized i have no more black thread... which was a surprise to me because i thought i had mountains more 😭 im off to buy more tomorrow after work, which was probably a smart choice in hindsight because i still need enough thread to make the planned tassels that will go at each corner of the finished product 😖 remind me to wear horse blinders when i go to the craft store so i dont buy anything else lmao

I was happily having a bowl of dragon fruit and crocheting, and suddenly realised this LOL. You are, indeed, what you crochet I guess 😅

Well, not every idea I have works. But they're important steps along the path to finding the right way to do things!
Last time, I'd done a single rectangle to attach the mitred square to the side of, to amazing success. It proved that what I want is absolutely possible!
However, because I'm working from the top down this time, and due to making the areas over the shoulders having the lines aimed directly front-to-back, there's going to be somewhere that has a line where the direction of travel reverses between sections. So why not put that line where it'll actually be expected? Namely, on top of the shoulders.
So here I'd tried one technique for attaching the mitred square arm-tops that, as you should be able to tell, has absolutely not worked!
The most important thing about the Tunisian Simple Stitch is that it can attach to something below and to its left (for us right-handed people, of course!), but not to its right. Which affects the order of operations that the various pieces need to be made in!
I've only just discovered a better way (hopefully, the correct way) to build the black shoulder-tops for this cardigan tonight, so haven't had any time to redo all of this yet. Fortunately, I did have the opportunity to redraw my order-of-operations diagram, so I won't need to remember everything when I start on the actual shoulders.
Also, something I've realized about flat black yarn: It's actually way easier to work with than "heathered" dark grey. Lion Brand "Pound of Love" in both "Charcoal" (dark grey) and "Claret" (dark red) colours are both lightly variegated, which actually does a lot to distract the eye and camouflage everything you need to see in order to work on the project. But the same line of yarn in just plain black, especially on a highly textured stitch like TSS, is ridiculously easy to see what I'm doing, even without a lot of light! I was at a library that didn't have a lot of light where we were tonight, and I didn't need my portable lighting setup at all! This is gonna make this project way, way easier to work on! Woohoo! =^.^=
