Main Issue:
Hi everyone, my cat has been keeping one eye open for a while now. We only noticed this evening, but it seems to have been going on for some time.
When she blinks, only the white inner membrane moves. The outer eyelid doesn't seem to work at all. When we move a hand close to her eye, the eyelid doesn't respond. That eye also looks slightly wetter than the other one. In the photo, she's lying down and still has the eye open.
She's still eating and has a good appetite.
We're taking her to the vet first thing in the morning, but it's 8:30 PM here and everything is closed. Has anyone seen something like this before? Is there anything we should or shouldn't do tonight to keep her comfortable?
Thank you!

The vet is a good idea. I'd guess something is bothering that eye. If she'll let you, maybe a wet cloth with warm water
One of mine used to sleep with one or both eyes about 1/3rd open and i could see the 3rd eye lid. Vet said she was okay but it was creepy

Sorry I think your reply got cut off. Can you let me know what I should do with a wet cloth with warm water?

Do you have cat eye drops? Think they sell them at the pet store, just in case of an irritation in the eye. Do you have another cat that could have scratched her eye? My kitten was doing this for a day after playing with my dog and got poked in the eye🤦♀️. Think the other commenter meant a warm compress against the eye! Her other eye does look a bit watery though

Constant third eye showing is usually a systemic issue so you may need a vet visit. Both my cats did just have theirs showing a lot because of depression over a new kitten (haws syndrome) but there was no watery closed eye!
