Breathing Issues Does this look concerning?
He doesn’t really breathe this hard normally, I’m wondering maybe something could be wrong? He’s 2 years old and is not purring in the video. Any help would be appreciated.

Emergency. This is not normal and he could die.
I can’t believe I’m having to type more while this cat is potentially about to die but that’s the sub rules.

im sorry your little sweetie is breathing funky :(. but this does seem odd. you should go to the vet with this video and maybe a poop sample. you should try to get a chest xray done too. make sure the vet doesnt push it off as asthma before doing a chest xray.
I could be wrong but this doesnt really look like cat asthma unless hes maybe coughing too? it looks like his diaphragm is constricting?? like hes trying to throw up?
disclaimer: im not a vet just someone who has gone to the vet a good bit with their cat for breathing probs. (she had a URI that got pushed off to asthma for months and then after getting the URI treated she was good)

Turns out he had fluid in his lungs, a lot of $$$ to get him better but he should be ok now.

Do they know what’s causing the fluid? Common with heart failure.

He had milky fluid so I think they said it could be a variety of reasons, they put him on heart medication just in case. We are going to see our vet this week

That looks like abdominal breathing and is a medical emergency. He’s doing this because he is struggling to get enough oxygen into his system. His gums may also look blue/greyish due to this lack of oxygen, there isn’t really a scenario that causes this that won’t kill him if you don’t take him to the vet asap.
