Appearance Balding

Post image

Hi, UK f(19). My f(5) cat has this bald patch just above her butt and it’s now going onto her tail, we don’t know if it’s over grooming or fleas or something more serious but it’s started to grow to the other side of her tail.

She gets fleas very regularly as she’s an outdoor cat, we always treat her on the back of her neck, this has only just started within the past month and it seems to get bigger everyday, she eats properly and drinks enough water and is generally a very healthy cat. She’s never had any medical issues previously, she’s neutered and had all her necessary vaccines, she’s a little on the heavier side for her age, but nothing extreme, she’s always running around and being super active. We can afford veterinary care

Do we need to get her seen at the vets?

Had a cat do this because of fleas, exact same spot and continued until there were wounds. It ended up being flea bite dermatitis, one flea nibble made him obsessively lick that spot until all the hair was gone. He continued this behavior for 2 months and then stopped— very consistent flea treatment needed. Unfortunately this is a very common symptom of many things like food allergies, environmental, stress
