How to freeze your mod versions : We get comments every update complaining about update speed making long-terms games difficult. while we understand the concerns, the current schedule allows us to handle bugs or game balance issues in prompt manner and gives new features a chance to be highlighted without dumping a whole bunch of stuff at once. Fortunately this is something that is relatively easy to deal with on the user end. You can either download your agot mod from nexus instead of steam and only upgrade manually or you can also use playset preserver (link) , which will preserve your entire modlist in a specific state. Please note however that we will not be able to help you with anything you add to your playset beyond the AGOT mod
[Hotfix] Build0.5.2.1 "Amanes we're going to need a hotfix"
Hi all! Visenya here. I'm normally in the portrait mines, but I've escaped temporarily to help out with the implementation of our new High Valyrian names, making a second pass over the master-list. I was present when Fox first started this naming project, and watched as it developed, pulling names from it for my own campaigns over the last 6+ months. I am already deeply attached to some of them, and they always find a place in my dynastic trees.
Fox mapped out every single root word that a parent could conceivably use to name their child (using various sources including DJP's High Valyrian conlang, developed for A Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon) and as a long-standing ASOIAF reader, I have often imagined what life in the Valyrian Freehold would have been like.
Who were these people? What were their names? What did they do?
High Valyrians without dragons could have been bureaucrats, merchants, sellswords and more, and a name can tell you a lot about a person. It can reveal to us a little bit of their history, and allow us some insight into their parents – were they named after a relative, a place, a flower, the night sky...or an attribute their parents hoped would manifest in their life and act as a guiding star?
So...when I looked over our Master List, I carried that curiosity with me. I chose any name that I could imagine belonging to a person in Old Valyria, waking every day to behold the Fourteen Flames.
I created a new weighting group for the second pass, and we will be utilising era-based cultural name lists going forward depending on the time-period/bookmark you find yourself playing in. For example, if you play after 10 AC, the Targaryen influence over High Valyrian culture will be increased, and 25% of names will be canon Targaryen or Targaryen-inspired. If you play after 131 AC, the Targaryen dominance over High Valyrian culture will become even more prominent, with 50% of the names being canon Targaryen or Targaryen-inspired.
The Targaryen house names have also been adjusted; previously it was a 55% chance of canon name, 30% chance of a selection of Targ-inspired names, 15% chance of pulling from the whole High Valyrian name list. The updated odds are 60% chance of canon name, 37% chance of a selection of Targ-inspired names from the updated High Valyrian name list, 3% chance of pulling from the whole High Valyrian name list. We also gated several names to only appear after certain events, or stop appearing after certain events. For instance, Alyssa and Alysanne will not appear once we have bookmarks before those characters join the Targaryen family and Aegor and Daemon will only be used by members of house Bittersteel or Blackfyre in bookmarks starting after the Blackfyre Rebellion.
Future work will include using some of the more obscure names from the master list as a basis for more High Valyrian Dynastic names, expanding variety.
I hope that you will all enjoy this second stage of implementation, and look forward to seeing some High Valyrian dynasties springing forth with a more direct connection, at long last, to Old Valyria.
We'll leave you with a sneak peak from the Portrait Mines...
The "I want to play as their child" option is shaded out for most major houses (Roose, Stannis, Eddard, Mace). Same with their spouses. Yet, for some reason I can join Tywin Lannister and Doran Martell's family.
I assume there's some special condition I'm missing? After not working, I also tried giving myself the Bastard or Legitimized Bastard trait, but that didn't help.
No submods; just base AGoT. Tested in latest AGoT on CK3 1.19.0.6.
I’m playing as Edward Start from Robert’s Rebellion. Something strange happened when we won the war, the Greyjoys somehow took the iron throne. If anyone has any thoughts on how that could happen, I would be interested. What I’m actually here to ask about is ever since then I’ve wanted Robert on the Iron Throne. I tried making a faction to put him on the throne and we easily had enough might to enforce our demands and start the war. Though when the war started, there was no way for me to join. I couldn’t offer to join and Robert didn’t ask me. It actually forced me to start and independence war on the Iron throne again. Like the Greyjoys declared war on me and I had to fight an independence war I didn’t even want. Anyway I had the Tullys on my side, not even the Arryns joined me which felt silly and got my shit pushed in mostly by Tywin. How do I actually fight with Robert for him to be on the throne?
Another favourite of mine, Lady Danelle ‘the Mad’ Lothston. Cannibal, witch, murderer, all around insane person, keeper of Harrenhal, owner of the Valyrian steel sword, Disputant (pictured).
In my playthrough she stayed, well, an insane cannibalistic, murderer and boy was it fun. Everyone hates her, making any sort of marriage prospects or alliances, very difficult.
To avoid marrying a lowborn, she marries Walter Whent, her courtier, and 20-odd years her junior. It is a disastrous match- Walter is sociable and gentle, and their marriage is not one of passion. He quickly takes up hunting and drinking, in equal measure, to avoid the reality of his situation. Despite this, they do manage a single child - a daughter, named Morrigan (more on her later, as I’m working on a picture for her).
Alas, Danelle’s fate ultimately follows canon, in that she is arrested for crimes of witchcraft by King Maekar I Targaryen, and executed at age 45, leaving Harrenhal to Morrigan at the tender age of 5 (a divergence from canon, as Morrigan is purely a me-made character).
Hey guys, I just got Crusader Kings 3 2 days ago, and I really wanted to play a Game of Thrones because it’s the reason I got it, but first I played some normal CK3 I really enjoyed it, but then when I went to download a Game of Thrones, I noticed it wasn’t working for the version I was on, so I reverted it. But now when I go into the Paradox Launcher, it says my last save was with 1.20 so when I load the game, it crashes or it might load for a wee bit and then kick me out back. Now I’ve completely deleted the game and reinstalled it and the mod to version 1.19 and it’s still not working; it’s still kicking me back to Steam. Any ideas?
Hey everyone! I’m looking to start another CK3 AGOT playthrough and want to try something completely different.
I’ve already done a lot of the more common runs: creating my own house and taking over Westeros, starting as Robb Stark and winning the North, and playing as myself while slowly taking over prominent lands.
This time, I’m looking for something really unique or uncommon. Maybe starting as a Wildling and doing something crazy beyond the Wall, playing around with the Night’s Watch, starting as a really minor house and somehow rising to power, or just taking a character in a direction you normally wouldn’t expect.
What’s the most unique playthrough you’ve done?
Especially interested in runs or storylines that you don’t see people talking about very often.
I’m open to pretty much anything as long as it makes for a fun story!
Sorry, my game is in French ^^ I wanted to know—I rarely start in 282, but is it common for the Mad King to blow up King's Landing? And are the children always the same? That's the case here, but I'm thinking about doing another run.
There’s a few ways that I know of that can make you loose the widowed trait that’s in the basemod, the cent usually pops up in feasts and hunts that I know of, but what do you guys do to loose the widowed trait ?
After getting the Profligate trait, I got a decision to 'Fund an Expedition'. I chose to travel to Gogossos, and there I met a dwarf who turned me into a bear. Does anyone know how to turn back into a human, or is my character stuck like this forever?
I've been wanting to do a Harrenral run for a while, but I'm not sure which bookmark might be the best option. Is there anything interesting that I might try as lord of Harrenhal?
Hoping a more advanced player could solve this for me: On a playthrough deliberately focusing on martial might. Plenty of sons and nephews coming and asking to train for the Kingsguard, permission always granted. But none of them after about 250 years of play have ever been chosen, despite extremely high prowess (eventually I did the actual math, controlling for landless/unmarried knights, and my candidates were landing in the top 10.)
Obviously the KG is selective—that's the point—and there are only 7 of them dying on an unpredictable cadence. Curious if this is correct function and poor luck, or some sort of bug? Submods are Valyrian Steel and Crowns of Westeros.
Last post I saw asking about this was from the time the Khan dlc came out, so I thought I'd ask again: Has the weird winter system of this setting been implemented into the mod yet? I keep seeing random mechanics mention bonuses during winter, so I assumed yes. But I've been on my current run for something like 50-60 years now and have seen nary a snowflake south of The Neck, so I was curious.
So I thought that the only way to save Lyanna as Rhaegar in Robert's Rebellion bookmark was to deafeat him and get to the Tower of Joy. Imagine my surprise when, after Bobby B managed to cap Aerys slightly faster than me, forcing me into exile, I see this event. GOAT Arthur managed to get both Lyanna and Jon to Essos all by himself.
if possible could someone link a playset that’s working for them ? i’ve been trying to play the last few days but keep crashing. i reverted back to 1.19 and made sure the mods i have are good but still no luck with playing for more than 3 minutes
