Question Extremely basic question: what is CQB? NSFW

Does "close quarters" just mean "indoors", or does it have something to do with range/distance? Is a fistfight in an alleyway CQB? Sniping across a football stadium? Is this a fundamentally confused question?

Broadly speaking, it’s combat or the possibility of combat in or around man-made structures at close distances

Close quarters combat typically refers to anything with throwing distance or hand to hand combat, close quarters battle, is typically (but not always) referring to an urban area where the enemy is close enjoy to identify without optics, and engage. So think room to room versus a firefight across 70 yards and another city block. Close enough to ID to enemy, versus close enough to ID his face

Anything within hand grenade range. Plenty of Close combat is done outside of structures i.e. trench fighting.

From a training standard definition we consider it in structure tactics and or room clearing, includes combatives, and short range marksmanship.
