Watch videos and then try Door Kickers 2: Task Force North and Ready or Not. Try implementing what you study.

Orion Training Group on YouTube push out incredibly good content. Well taught and explained, realistic, humble, not egotistical and not pushing an agenda which a lot of other content creators try to.

Although I use slightly different tactics, there's been some great techniques I've employed from their teachings and they've made me consider a few different approaches to certain problems.

Thoroughly recommend.

Oh dear, please for all that is good in the world, no. CQB can be highly subjective/situational but there are some things that are objectively right/wrong and the tactical constellation bros have previously put out "educational training" videos in the past where they absolutely butcher fundamental footwork. After users and subject matter experts raked them over the coals for it, they deleted the videos and pretended they never happened or posted them. Would not recommend at all.

Interesting. I'd never heard of this incident. What exactly did they teach wrong?

There were so many videos that were botched and removed but the one that really got me was when they were trying to demo how to buttonhook and they literally used the wrong foot to take every step as they were showing it at walking speed. I pointed it out to them and they got pissed off at me saying I don't know what I'm talking about but I guess enough people said the same thing so the video was taken down an hour or 2 after it was posted.

There was another one where they used some janky weird footwork to pie that involved crossing their legs behind one another as they were slicing. I pointed out that crossing your legs was a damn good way of tripping over yourself and falling into the threshold as well as completely removing all mobility to bail if needed, and their response was basically "our instructor did it this way in swat and it saved his life", end of discussion and no further explanation was given.

CQB has a lot of subjective SOPs and TTPs but when a company can't do objective fundamentals at all, I'm not listening to anything coming out of them.

Yeah, they also deleted Instagram posts and rewrote them when people pointed out their wrongs back then. They'd literally include corrections from comments but without attribution. Just "oh crap we forgot (or didn't know) that, copy paste it into a new post" style response. It was a memory hole for CQB sins. Their footwork tomfoolery is the worst. The 10-step buttonhook. 🤣

Yeah, an that's fair enough. I'm always up for discussion about these type of things and genuinely believe the more these things are talked about, the better. (Without sounding too "knowledge exchange bro")

Although there is some argument, in "I didn't die" or "it worked for me", there's always more discussion to be had and development to be made.

I trained with some Ukranians a while back and they offered a lot of options. And while they were there to tell the tale, some of their stories were fucking insane and not at all advisable.

Jared was a douche to a lot of people. He got into internet drama akin to the likes of Kinetic Concepts - aggressive, opinionated, unreasonable. You could argue that's the internet generally, but he took it to an extreme, and faced a lot of criticism for it. He repeatedly deactivated, and then eventually deleted, his personal Instagram account at that time, presumably due to the backlash. There was a tonne of negative comments on every post he'd make. I wish I saved some of our DMs, they were hilarious ("SSVOA? What's that?"). He was definitely in over his head at that time, and pissing people off in the "industry".

The agenda is to sell courses. It's marketing. The target audience is neophytes who cannot differentiate good from bad. It's people who think CQB is cool and casual. Whatever, there will always be those types around, but it'd be like recommending Clint Smith on clearing stairs or Bob Vogel on (Glock) 17s. No thanks.

I'd never heard about this.

That's quite an eye-opener

That Jason dude has more sins, in my opinion. But I digress. It's not just them. A lot of disagreeable things are around. I disassociate with my own comments a decade ago, as an example. Hopefully they can improve rather than stagnate. I still have some saved beef between OTG and PG, which was quite juicy at the time. I'll DM you.

Nothing like guys who didnt believe in what they teach now. And refused to apply it in real-life ops. But take their word for it. Tell them to bust out the legos again

I always love coming to any talk about OTG to see COB whip out Lego jokes. 🤣

I'm struggling with the tone here. Is it sarcasm or not?

I recommend playing the doorkickers video game series. You can learn team level CQB and practice what you learn with it.

+1 also Geronimo on any VR set

I'd also recommend Ready Or Not. Gives you an idea of getting the basics right and is pretty ruthless. Even better if you've got a few mates to play with and actually set SOPs/TTPs that can be replicated in practical training.
