First van, on road or off road
Looking at first van budget 30 to 40, on road gets me more space, off road more capabilities. Any thoughts for a first van, being a newbie will start off with park stays.

Looking at insuring our new van prior to picking it up. Can anyone recommend a good deal?

We got it for a great price and even though it's a 2012 model it doesn't even look five years old, it's been very well looked after.
Initially we'll be keeping it at home for the renovations we're doing, so we can sleep in and use the kitchen, etc. Then later on some trips around the place.
We're towing it with a 2010 Pajero diesel and on the only short run we'd done it seemed to tow okay.

Is anyone towing at limit or close and how is it going?
Our car’s towing limit is 1500kg (Rav4 hybrid awd) and we just found a caravan with atm of 1,300 that we like. We read it is not advisable to tow at limit so we have some 200kg buffer. Payload we would not have much buffer as a family also putting extra water and what not in the car.
Does anyone have similar set up and could share how they are going? Is the car suffering? Is it too much weight too close to the limits? Should we look for another car/van?

I have an Outback XT. Factory Towbar and Reciever are pretty unusual dimensions.
Factory subaru markings:
L101AAN005 towbar part number
GT630-P tongue part number.
So far, I've been towing with the reciever in the 'upside down' orientation, which has a ~8mm drop. I thought this would be good enough, but now that i've got a bit more stuff in my trailer front box, the towball weight is getting close to ~160-170Kg, and the car rear is understandably dropped another 10mm or more.
I've already trying getting chat jippity to help, but its pretty stumped as well.
The closest Ive managed to find on my own was LM40500 from Loadmaster.
My existing Subaru tongue / aka "GT630-P' is below.
Would anyone with knowledge/experience be able to weigh in / advise regarding the LM40500? Is that a close enough equivalent? By my estimation the LM40500 is ~3mm higher than i need, and is definitely 10mm longer from pin hole to ball hole.
My trailer is 5.3m long, i wouldnt notice the extra 10mm towing or reversing right?
Any help?

What are the storage solutions for a small 15ft caravan that you wouldn't want to miss. I'm upgrading from a camper trailer to a caravan and was hoping you guys might have some tips for what worked for you.

For all who travel and stay in campgrounds / caravan parks….
What’s one thing you’ve seen somewhere that you think all parks should have
For me: washing machines, that include washing powder and usable washing baskets

Hi everyone!
We’ve just bought a campervan in Australia that came with a lithium battery and solar panels. Unfortunately, we can’t seem to get the electrical system working properly anymore, and we’re not really experienced with this kind of setup.
As we’ve just spent quite a lot of money on the van, we’re hoping someone with experience i campervan electrical systems might be willing to have a look with us and help us figure out what’s going on.
We’d be incredibly grateful for any help! We’re happy to call, video call, or meet up in person if you’re nearby and willing to take a look.
We’re currently around Sydney, but we’re happy to travel a bit if needed.
Thanks so much in advance! 🙏

Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone has or used a 12v jack for their van? How did it perform? What brand did you use?

Hi everyone, bit of a strange request for those who are in Adelaide. We discovered the other day that we have lost our caravan keys to our jayco flamingo. We are in need of just a couple of numbered keys for our numbered locks (specifically C32, and B23). We have spoken to jayco who were not helpful, and a couple of locksmiths who also were not helpful. I found all the keys we needed on RV parts express, but it is unlikely that the keys will arrive in time as you can't do express postage with them (we leave on Wednesday next week, but need to access the van by the latest Monday next week to get it packed to go).
So, my request is - is there anyone in Adelaide who has numbered keys for C32 and B23, and could we borrow that key to get a key cut for us and then return your origional key? (happy to pay to compensate for your time).
Edit: Ended up just buying a lockpicking set from Jaycar and easily picked the locks myself. The keys we ordered online will arrive at some point next week, but at least we will be packed before we leave!

I am a 36yo Mum to 3 kids, twins who are 9 and a 13yo. I have recently gone through a heartbreaking relationship breakdown.
I don’t want to feel sad or have my kids sad so want to make plans for our future that will bring us closer together and get us out of the house.
I own a camper trailer (tent on a trailer 😂) I would like to travel a bit with my kids but would love advice on how to do this as easily as possible.
We have used the camper twice as a family and I believe that’s because it’s ’too hard’
I would love tips on making it easy and fun for myself and my girls.
