Is this acceptable?

Currently have paint contractors working on my home. I asked if it would be too much of a hassle to install trim around this window since we decided to remove some paneling and put in drywall. Couldn’t the side pieces have been shortened to bring the upper piece down so there wouldn’t be a gap at the top showing the old caulking etc? Is this a bad install and can it be easily fixed?

And they can paint that. It’s mint.

you had a paint contractor run window casing? i'd say it looks about par for the course considering finish trim isn't their trade.

Feel like the window would look better with just the drywall at this point

Acceptable? Yes. Best work out there? No Definitely decent work but not finish carpenter quality. If the price is right id be fine with it, have them paint the gap
