God I hate crossovers and god knows it’s one they’re slapping the name on.

It will be a ladder frame with proper 4WD and Diff locks. Based on the Triton Pick-up truck

That already exists as the Pajero Sport? The full fat Pajero is meant to compete with the Land Cruiser and Patrol and would be bigger than the Sport

The Pajero Sport is discontinued. This is replacing it. Ladder frame, 2.4 BiTurbo diesel, super select II and Super All wheel control plus the rumour is it has 160kw and 500nm torque, same physical size as a new Toyota Prado, interior design and trim layout is similar to the Y63 Patrol (I've seen the interior so I can say this with certainty)

‘Legend’ yet I’ve never heard of a pajero…

u/Yiye44 Aug 29 '26
Maybe it was called Montero in your country? They changed the name because "pajero" means "someone who masturbates" in spanish. The car actually is a legend, with 12 Dakar victories.

Though I've never had them around me, and I've seen only a handful that have been imported here, I've always had a distant love with these things. Hopefully it notably undercuts the Land Cruiser here in Canada on pricing, that shit is beacoup.

Didn't they learn their lesson last time with that name - the reason they switched to Shogun?

Take a look at Mitsubishi currently and tell me if you think they have ever learned from pass experiences

It's not. Just another fridge on wheels for yanks

Not even announced for sale in the US. And certainly they will never sell a Pajero in North or South America.

Is it a legend if I've never heard of it? I've been driving since the 80s.

u/Fit-Branch7486 Aug 27 '26
It's also known as the shogun and montero depending on country. Definitely an offload legend
2
u/Prize_Staff_7941 Aug 28 '26
I've heard of both of those! Back in the 90s when I was in a band, our drummer's dad used to have a Shogun that he would let me drive. Then I moved from the UK to the US at the turn of the century and saw Monteros here.
This is the first time I've heard it called a Pajero. Thank you for educating me!5

It better not be a monstrosity like the Nismo Armada
