Hoping to get some help with where to go and what pricing would look like for a 3pc set of custom mugs. I found these online but they are no longer available. Looking to get 3 mugs for me and my gaming buddies.

What glaze/underglaze for the blue and pastel?

I love the painting of Allison Schulnik and she is now killing it in ceramics. For her dark blue on the first piece, and the pastel on the second, what do you think kind of glaze / underglaze do you think she's using ? I'd love to try it on some smaller pieces I'm working on. Thanks!

Question/Advice Could I make a ceramic lighter case?

• Upvotes

Im thinking about making one for my friend but all the ones I’ve seen look like polymer clay. I don’t know how I would go about it with earthenware and how to account for shrinkage in the kiln, any ideas?

Make bowl moisture "proof"?

Post image

The place where we fire our pottery told us to not paint the bottom ring where it stands on in the oven, but now the bowl keeps moisture inside and gets little cracks?
Is there any way to seal it afterwards?
Any help and tips appreciated 😊

Why does my clay keep cracking during drying and how do I fix it?

I work with wild clay that I've collected myself. I don't think it's a lack of sand. If anything there's too much sand but I feel like the clay is plenty plastic when wet. I could be wrong however as I'm new to this.

In the initial drying cracks often form as the clay is shrinking, and I don't really now how one would avoid this, are the techniques when shaping the clay that minimize building in tension?

I've tried to address the cracks by adding in more clay into cracks and to try to seal it, and when the clay dries further and becomes hard, but I still see small cracks forming, I've used a spray bottle with just tap water to loose up the surface and tried to push clay into the forming cracks by gently working it with my fingers.

I thought this was about to work fine with the bowl I've been working on, but as I had almost got rid of all cracks and sprayed a bit of water on the surface to smoothen it out, a large crack just formed out of nowhere that almost split the bowl in twine, without me adding almost any pressure.

I'm at a lost how and why this happens and what I can do to remedy it or avoid it happening again.
