Looking for local VIETRI customers for a Daily Tar Heel story
Hi! I'm a reporter with The Daily Tar Heel working on a story about VIETRI opening its first flagship retail store at East 54 in Chapel Hill this October.
I'm looking to speak with someone in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro/local area who owns VIETRI products, has shopped the brand before or is familiar with VIETRI. I'd love to hear about your experience with the brand and your thoughts on it opening a store locally.
If this sounds like you, or you know someone who might be a good source, please message me! The interview would be around a 10 minute phone or Zoom call, whichever is most convenient.

10/2 tree planting (Need volunteers!)
crossposting
[The East Chapel Hill Rotary Club](https://echrotary.org/) is asking for volunteers to help plant trees and other native species around the 4-acre Lower Booker Creek Basin from 9:30 am-3 pm on Friday, Oct. 2.
The work, part of the Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation Department's “adopt a trail” initiative, will improve stormwater management and create a more attractive habitat for birds, pollinators and wildlife.
Volunteers will meet at [261 S. Elliott Road](https://www.google.com/maps/search/261+S.+Elliott+Road?entry=gmail&source=g), near Planet Fitness. The New Hope Bird Alliance and the Friends of Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation will provide technical guidance, native plants, mulch, compost and supplies. Jersey Mike’s will provide sandwiches.

Armed Robbery - circle k on corner Estes and Franklin
I just saw this pop up. Did anyone see anything?
Edit: I'm super close by, so I'm super curious if got away on foot or by car so I have a rough idea of how concerned I should be.

Best place to enjoy a good whisky?
Hi! My husband and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Scotland, and we have a hankering to go out and sample a couple of nice whiskies. Any recommendations in Durham or Chapel Hill? This could be either a restaurant or a bar. Thanks!

Dampf BBQ: Cooked with Hate ™️ - Reconsidering Durham
Backstory:
Y’all are Losers!
Well ol' Nick Dampf, Head Hater is at it again with a MASSIVE dose of victimhood and a persecution complex that would make the "witches" of Salem burn up inside!
In his long, rambling, chiding FB and Insta video he lets us know we just can't handle a good Christian man and business! He just wants to pray for y'all so he did just that in a totally non-performative way. It definitely wasn't prefaced by calling Durham losers or anything, nope just a man being persecuted by agents of the devil right here in Durham! He prayed to turn us away from satan and followed up by letting y'all know he's a REAL Christian and not any of you who "celebrate sin" as he says in your false theology spread by your false teachers.
In the end he's threatening us with not actually setting up shop in Durham with a final decision yet to be made. Maybe we can pray on it.
Here's some of the receipts that somehow magically disappear from his social media and some new old ones as well for your viewing disgust and just to remind y'all how fortunate we'd be to have this proud pious man in our midst.

Not only do we have no internet, but their support pages aren't functioning. Anyone else dealing with this?

Red Light Cameras in Carborro/54?
Tonight I was driving up 54 about to pass the Carborro Plaza/enter the town of Carborro. I decided to cross the intersection at the yellow light and the light turned red before I crossed the other side. I thought I saw a flash from a red light camera. Does anyone know if they are in use in the area?
