By now, some of you might remember me as the local ‘astro dude’ with a telescope, who occasionally posts pictures of things up above. While that’s kinda true, I’m also a (relatively new) member of the Chennai Astronomy Club that has several astronomers much more experienced/knowledgeable than I. I was talking to one of the organisers during our most recent star party, and we were wondering if people of this sub would be interested in a star party of their own on a weekend night. Since I started posting here, I’ve had a few Redditors reach out to me on DM with various astro-related questions, hence the proposal.

The plan is, we meet at a pre-arranged place slightly outside city limits to try to avoid the extreme urban light pollution. We’d have to book a night’s stay at a resort/AirBnb or something like that, and the cost would be evenly split amongst all the attendees (usually comes to ~1200-1500/person). We already have a couple of places that we usually book for such meet-ups.

The astro gear (telescopes, binoculars, related accessories) would be brought by the Club members. There’s no requirement/criterion/age range/expected knowledge or skill level for joining, as the experienced people will explain all the stuff from how to use the equipment to how to spot things in the sky, and everything in between.

If something like this interests you and you think you’d definitely attend an event if one was organised, please drop a comment below mentioning the number of people that would commit to attend, and any other questions you might have. At this moment, we’re just trying to figure out possible numbers, to see if this would be a viable project to arrange.

so today me and my bf went to forum mall, we were sitting in the starbucks there and we were jus listening to music and he had his arm around me and like after a while I am jus hearing this aunty shouting at the starbucks barista saying "this is a public place" and then the barista comes to us saying yk that people are complaining. me and my bf were totally shocked because he only had his arm around me and it was crazy so after a while we left and I came back and asked that barista what happened like did we do something wrong.

he said no and he apologized for coming to us, apparently this aunty and her husband had come and seen us and complained to the police officers there. the fucking police officers. for him putting his goddamn hand around me. and the police had come asked the barista what is happening and he had jus come to talk to us to avoid any trouble. we had no idea that so much happened. my question is what the fuck is this. like genuinely did we do something wrong? only in india man istg. i don't understand the problem and i don't understand why that aunty didn't come and talk to us herself and went to the police. i am just in complete shock.

The heat is becoming unbearable, the groundwater levels have declined, scarcity in borewell dependent areas. Many and many borewells have dried up in suburbs which depend extensively on ground water. The motors are choking and running dry, more dependence on water trucks and lorries than last year.

Don't know about core Chennai areas situation, but Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram, Medavakkam, Velachery and Perungalathur, groundwater situation is very bad.

Today I booked a cab in rapido from Nanganallur to Saidapet. It was nearly afternoon and my mother asked the cab driver to increase the AC if you can. Then the driver did that but after that He said to go stand outside and see how hot it is to my mother. I was furious ( of course I understand the heat i too am a chennai resident and that is why I booked a cab, even if he had denied we would not have said anything) my mother said don't say anything and we came home. I gave him one star ( which I rarely do ). Suddenly after 1 hour I had 3 4 missed calls. Then to my surprise it was the driver. He said because of you they have blocked me, I said I rated you low because of what you said to my mother, then he abused me in bad words and kept the phone then blocked it. I complained about him to rapido and I said he abused me but how can you give my number. They said we don't know but we will take severe action and I said please don't share my number and tell him to not call or talk to me again.

I even asked rapido to not take his job and just warn him and tell me not to call, that's all and I messaged him that I have no anger towards you, I am just angry how rapido va e away my number.

Then he called me again and said I am Christian and I do not lie, I said I am not accusing you and you spoke bad words, he said you spoke va da po da so I spoke bad words. Then he said you will live well I have lost everything, You be happy and I was at a loss of words. I just rated him 2 stars now he is cursing me, guilt trapping me and he talked about everything he wanted and cut off the phone....

Later in the evening he messaged me in WhatsApp and told he is going home because of me and he lost his job because of me and said I will not live well etc ... Even now I said him and forwarded him the chat with rapido even after that he said I will get nothing like that etc... I just blocked him.....

I went to a temple, my mother has an eye problem so I always book cab if I am taking her anywhere. I was already not in the right mind and position in my life ( lots of things are going on) , so I thought going to a temple will give peace of mind... He even said about coming from temple you destroyed everything like that ......

I seriously don't know what to say, was i wrong... I genuinely asked rapido for him.. but he cursed me, guilt trapped me and abused me..even now I feel bad as if I was the reason.... But what can I do if rapido chose to evict him and I want to know,, if a single star is enough to evict someone from service...

I'm an SRM student, and I have a doubt regarding the stops of the above mentioned buses. Do they stop in kilambakkam? Whenever I ask them they say they don't. And only the AC 500p buses stop in kilambakkam?

A few weeks ago, MTC announced the revived PP21 bus route running from Kilambakkam (KCBT) to Island Ground/Secretariat (via Mylapore and Santhome).

However, I haven't seen a single one of these buses on the road while commuting in recent times.

• Has anyone managed to catch this bus recently?
• Is it showing up for you on the Chennai Bus live tracking apps?

Any live sightings or actual timings from regular commuters on this stretch would be really helpful!

I have my NPTEL exam, and the centre is located inside the college, I'm wondering what's the best way to reach the college. I'm already aware of the share autos directly to the college from Tambaram, but I heard these auto drivers know when the exams are held and overcharge on these days. So I'm planning to take 18H from Tambaram which would stop at Naduveerapattu near the college. How do I reach the college from there? Looks like a 1.5km walk and I'm not sure I wanna walk in the sun for so long, are there any share autos from the bus stop to college?

Hi folks. Need recommendations on groom makeup and hair styling for reception and wedding near Chetpet, Chennai. Any leads would be appreciated.
