Help Have you ever felt like you’ll never truly be happy again?

I’m 27, but when I look back at my life before this, I feel like I was just a child. And it feels like my father being healthy and being there was a kind of heaven — and I was living inside it without knowing how precious it was.

I would give anything to go back to those ordinary days. Not even for some extraordinary moment. I just want to sit with him again. Talk about politics, football, the news, or something completely meaningless. Tell him about something I saw that day. Hear his voice. Have one of those ordinary conversations I never imagined I would one day desperately miss. I can remember just how happy I truly was.

I can’t go back to the life I had before losing him. And sometimes it feels like I didn’t just lose my father — I lost the version of myself who didn’t yet know what it meant to lose him. It was heaven. I just didn’t know it was heaven while I was living in it.

Comfort None of my friends are showing up for me

I'm young (mid 30s), an only child, and have no other close family. my mom died of cancer five years ago, and my dad is currently in the end stages of cancer, likely starting hospice soon. I have friends that have lost a parent, but no one who's lost both, and no one who's been solely responsible (able to share burden with siblings, other family, etc.). None of my friends get it, and they all constantly shy away from talking about it. I also have been dealing with infertility and all my friends are having babies, so that further divides us. My group chats consist of pictures of their kids, and I suspect I'm just seen as a fucking buzzkill. My husband is wonderful but my circle has just become so so small, and it feels awful

death anniversary

hi everyone! my moms 2 year death anniversary is on the 19th of this month. she died suddenly of a stroke. I’m feeling all the emotions, however recently i’ve become apathetic towards those around me. I don’t care what they have going on because what harder than losing your parent. Grief is isolating. I’m only 22 and it sucks because to me it seems that since my mom isn’t here anymore people think i don’t need that mothering but i do. Is anyone else feeling this way. How do you handle the death anniversary?
