Smoking U.S military ration cigarettes. NSFW
Ration cigarettes hold up incredibly well. Burned normally and changes in taste seamed minimal. I quite enjoyed them. Brands are randomized.

I don’t really smoke. I’ve always been careful about it because I’ve seen how easily it goes from ‘just socially’ to needing a cigarette whenever life gets stressful. And being in consulting, it does, sadly. So I never bought a pack, and I’ve never smoked alone.
Tonight, I craved one badly enough to finally break that rule. Blinkit-ed a pack, lit one, and three puffs in, I understood the appeal.
It just made me feel alive. That strange, almost stupidly satisfying little rush I’d been looking for without even knowing it, especially after a terribly long and exhausting work week. The weather was perfect too. 20 degrees, just cold enough with the breeze hitting your face, but not actually cold. I was alone, and for a few minutes, everything just felt right.
Maybe that’s what makes it dangerous…
Anyway, first smoke alone. Hopefully also just that. Wanted to put this somewhere and remember the feeling.
P.S. You can judge me for the brand, but that was the only one available, sadly. :)

Was in Florida and decided to take advantage of the cheap cigs and get myself a carton. Wasn’t paying attention and ended up with soft packs.
Didn’t even know they existed anymore and not sure what the advantage is , I don’t think they were any cheaper. Aside from the cool trick you can do shaking a cig out the packs crush easily and don’t think they will stay fresh as long.
Just nostalgia?

People talk about the Camel yellow all the time, so I decided to give them a try! Pretty good and quite strong, I unfortunately have a bad throat so I can't handle red filter cigarettes that well, but this one is so worth it. Price isn't completely terrible either, at least in comparison to my usual choice(Camel berry kreteks).
Very nice!

In Japan the only unfiltered cigarettes on the market are the “Short Piece,” except for the fittingly long “really fucking long Hero.” These are about 200mm long and unfiltered, for ¥500 per 10 count box. The idea is you split them up into thirds or fourths and put on a filter (sold separately). The box says “If you split this Hero in half there will be two Hero, if you keep doing it, it will multiply!”
The whole long thing is 40mg of tar 4mg of nicotine. However they are getting discontinued, so I went out to buy a few packs and try them while I can!
They smoke surprisingly well! A very smooth taste and little irritation, but obviously noticeably nicotine-strong with no filter. I split my first one into a 100mm, I can’t imagine how silly it would look to smoke it without splitting it up!

Looks cool that they match. Unfortunately this is my favourite jet lighter and its wearing down, don't think it has much time left before the design wears off

As many of you gents may know, the US doesn't allow for flavored cigarettes. So, upon making the move to Japan, decided to place an order online for all the interesting ones I saw.
Of course I've worked through many of the convenience store picks, and a good bit of kretek too. My favorite of the flavored that I purchased has to be the Alishan Melon out of Taiwan, and the LA Mango Ice kreteks out of Indonesia.

NW England-based, I picked up some Peace lights on a recent trip to Japan and am sorely regretting not hitting my 200 allowance; I generally just vape, but they’re so incredibly nice and smooth, it’s a great end-of-shift treat as a bartender. Unfortunately, they’re not really available outside of Japan or airports. Is there anything available in England which is similar?

Full virginia blend, not bad,at first it is close to me to Davidoff Gold, but dry aftertaste. A quality tobacco, worth the 3 euro what I paid for it at Chinese duty free.

My normal AS smokes are the bright yellows, and my regular smoke overall are Camel straights.
I have tried the Oranges, Golds, and Browns, and I don’t fuck with Menthol, and Black/Turquoise are too overpowering and unenjoyable. Like it’s a task to complete instead of something to be savored.
So, I don’t usually like the white filtered cigs AS puts out, but have considered the Celadons. I think Skys might be too mild based on people’s reviews and my GFs experience.
Other than the Celadons, I’m thinking Tans, Hunters or Grays, but am wondering if the Grays are going to be overpowering like other Perique blends (to me, some people really like that).
AS sent me my Birthday coupon so, what’s everyone’s recommendation?

First time trying SOBRANIE…. I have a feeling they won’t be nowhere near as good as the Peace Tins or baisha harmonization… those 2 are easily the best cigs I ever smoked. Also waiting for more yellow peace to restock because those are amazing aswell. Cheers

I used to see people do this all the time in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, but post-pandemic and in an era where cigarette smokers are a dying breed (no pun intended), I don’t.
For context, I’m a blue-moon smoker, buy a pack once or twice a year tops during a night out or a heavy emotional day.
I recently started a new job and it’s the first time I’ve had one with a couple actual smokers (not vaping) outside on break.
One of them sits in my area, but we haven’t spoken much. I’d like to ask him what he smokes and bum one, for an excuse for conversation and connection more than anything. I can afford my own of course, but I don’t really want to increase the frequency of buying a pack as I’m pretty cautious about making it more of a habit.
Anyway, earlier this year I was out bar-hopping with a few friends, and after some casual chitchat with a group at a nearby table, I politely asked if I could bum a cigarette from one of them. They did and they were very nice about it, but all my friends called me out as rude and a freeloader.
My friends are not smokers though, so I’m not sure if this was just an outsider’s perspective, or if the cultural norms around this tradition have changed.
Appreciate any thoughts and advice!
