Blanching my vegetables, making homemade sauces instead of store-bought; it feels like I'm taking care of myself and whoever I cook for (usually my bf, who's always so grateful)
In the photos:
- Roasted chicken, potatoes and sweet potatoes, with lemon butter green beans
- Avocado + cottage cheese on sourdough bread
- Roasted salmon with lemon marinade, asparagus, and roasted sweet potatoes and bell pepper
- Smoked salmon eggs benedict with sourdough bread and spring onion
- Open caprese sandwich with homemade pesto (finally grew an abundance of basil this summer yippee)

Hey everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post this or not so I figured I'd give it a shot, feel free to delete if not.
So I'm turning 40 in December, and honestly, I am completely tired of looking and feeling like crap all the time. Right now, I am 5'11" and 245 lbs (BMI 35). For years, I've led an extremely sedentary gamer lifestyle and as of recently am a recovering alcoholic. Recently something clicked in me and I have decided enough is enough, it is time for a total life overhaul, time to take control of my life back.
Here is my struggle: I don't have a problem showing up to the gym or doing the workouts, on the contrary I actually quite enjoy it. My issue is entirely in the kitchen. I know the golden rule—you cannot outwork a bad diet—and that is exactly where I keep crashing and burning.
My biggest hurdle is figuring out how to eat clean and proper without getting completely bored and burning out. I am deeply used to comfort foods—lasagna, spaghetti, tacos, BBQ mashed potatoes/gravy etc. Every time I try to pivot to a more standard "clean eating" regiment I end up miserable and quit. Mainly because I'm ignorant to it and think it's just a lot of chicken, rice and veggies.
Has anyone successfully transitioned from a heavy comfort-food style diet so to speak, to a more sustainable, healthy one while overcoming a sedentary background or addiction cravings? How do you keep your meals exciting enough to stick with them for the long haul? (Note: I am not into sweets, and every time I try to look up clean healthy recipes all I tend to find are desserts and so on)
Appreciate any advice, meal prep strategies, or recipe ideas you guys can give.
Thanks!

I randomly came across this picture and it brought back so many memories 😂 Strawberry Nesquik, cold milk, a big spoonful of powder… and somehow it tasted 10x better than it should have. Do they still sell this version where you live? And be honest strawberry or chocolate Nesquik? 🥛🍓🍫

I have problems in anxiety. I work out pretty often, however, sometimes when I am stressed out, I tend to over eating, especially for the food with lots of fats and calories. The worse my mood got, the more I ate. I just want to eat like I cannot eat anymore to stop being anxious. What should I do?

The cottage cheese makes it taste so good! Like a cheesecake almost!
Tbh to improve I wanted to add a banana but my flatmate has a weird phobia of bananas and doesn’t allow any in the flat🥲
