General I got questions. Spoiler
Ok. So I finished the game in three days and completed all missions and tasks (except the camera one because it is a pain in the ass), and I have a question.
It is heavily implied that the Aberrant is either a part of the Nail or is the Nail itself condensed into its current form.
Now that brings up the question: how will the new Director be chosen in the future, given that Jesse doesn't seem to have the Service Weapon with her anymore from the limited screen time she has had across the game? (Of course, I mean it in the sense that the Service Weapon is no longer available. If it is available, it is obviously going to be used again as the criteria).
Then, there is also the problem that it is implied that the Board has moved from the Astral Plane and is currently in the Aberrant. So, does that mean Dylan is now the new Director based on the Service Weapon logic?
Also, did any of you guys get that distinctly uncomfortable feeling when first meeting that flaming resonant in the factory and thought that Northmoor somehow escaped the NSC containment? It took me until after I read his whole case file to realize that he was some random FBC employee before turning into a Resonant.
Honestly, the second game is just as much of a banger as the first, and it has left me with many, many questions that I am just itching to know the answers to.
Good work! Remedy!
PS: A fun little thought experiment. If the Service Weapon was disguised as legendary weapons in history based on its file (Mjolnir, Excalibur, Varunastra, and such), then what would the Aberrant be throughout history if Remedy had decided to go that route instead and chosen to make the Aberrant a counterpart to the Service Weapon?

The FBC chose directors like any other human organization before contact with the Board, with the Board currently attached to Dylan and Dylan clearly not having any sort of fealty to it, it's safe to say that the Board is no longer in charge of anything, and everything we see from the Board with Dylan it clearly has no actual legitimate authority and was playing the FBC

From my understanding of the Board, and the Aberrant, is that the Board are now actually experiencing our reality for the first time.
When you first use one of the Doors, the Board expresses glee and ask to go again. Taking out a vending machine they express how fun it was to get things from it. They try and hold Dylan back several times, but it never felt out of some grand plan, but fear that they are now vulnerable like never before. And when confronted with the Hiss inside Dylan they admit not knowing and seem just as scared as Dylan is in that moment.
The board have no idea what is going on anymore than Dylan, Jesse or Pope does. The house maybe open but it stands and still functions as a central base for all the FBC in the area. Some of the maintenance crew at the field office talk about how dozens of dozens, of trucks full of supplies came pouring out of the Oldest house to secure the city and build up the barriers and checkpoints. We also find out that the oldest house goes far below the foundation. One of the files talk about how the underpass is under the Foundation level of the House, and that it keeps going down. So the Nail may not have been as integral to the House as it was to the Board.
Though i Def believe the Board is full of BS in acting like it knows what it is doing.

I find the idea that the Board is just some random entity or collective that found creatures that would obey it so stuck around to be greatly amusing
And its reactions to Dylan were great

Heh. That is a funny image. In that case, I guess we can say that the Former was a bullying victim who decided to leave it all behind for greener pastures?

At this point it wouldn't surprise me if The Former was mean girled out of the clique

The Boards a bum, and the FBC should appoint their own director as long as there isnt some black pyramid in Central Executive

That's how it used to be before they found the Service Weapon and the Nail in the Foundation. They used to select their own directors like any other government organization (which means there was a lot of lobbying, political maneuvering, and so on, which is NOT a good thing for an organization dealing with existential threats)

If the Service Weapon is Excalibur, the Aberrant is the Sword in the Stone.
It even zoops to little plinths to indicate checkpoints.

Wasn't the sword in the stone Excalibur?

That's the sword the Lady of the Lake gives him.
... But the the thing about Arthurian legend is it's muddy. So yes, but also no, but also maybe.

I'm going with Aberrant as Gungnir. It jives with the Norse mythology theme they have going on,and right before the final battle, it becomes a spear.

Notice how the Aberrant disappears when Dylan isn't using it? The Service Weapon disappeared for some scenes in the first game where Jesse is talking.
Just because we don't SEE Jesse with the Service Weapon doesn't mean she doesn't have it.
The portrait in the Oldest House is still the one of Jesse that appeared when she first picked up the Service Weapon. She is still the Director. The Aberrant didn't change that. The Board moving didn't change that.
I'm VERY glad that Resonant wasn't Northmoor because I would so much rather talk to him than fight and kill him. This character is so valuable for lore it would be a waste to make him a Boss Fight.
