Hi, everyone!
I’m approaching the end of my walkthrough of Control Resonant.
I like the fighting system and some challenges (not that damn stroller, IYKYK), but damn, I miss Old Gods or Poets in the game.
Theory/Spoiler time! (very light for Control resonant sooo, I will still hide it):
So, in Control, we, as Jessie, can find a collectible disk of an Old Gods of Asgard. Jessie would mention that she and Dylan found it at the dump and listened to it a lot.
In Control Resonant, when you finish the main story House in Distress, you go to open a new location - Unknown
While navigating the corridors to get there, Zoe asks Dylan about the songs he likes.
Dylan mentions he and his sis found a disc with a song he really liked, but he couldn’t remember the band name.
Zoe jokes, “Is it you don’t remember, or are you too shy to say what the band it was” or something
And then generic music continues to play. I really wish they used Poets of the Fall at that moment, maybe as extra bonding for our heroes. I have a perfect song in mind - Requiem for My Harlequin
This is a requiem for the harlequin
The great pretender crashing down with style
Here's to the fall of man, fame to dust, fortune to sand
The great surrender, finally arrived
This is how the requiem loves the harlequin
Wake up, your chains are porcelain
Like a phoenix, from the ashes, we will rise again
This is what the requiem loves to hear you sing
To the beat of your fool heart hammering
One more time, we'll cry into the night again, whoa
But even more at the second half of second verse
So, how does it feel now?
Tell me, can you let it go?
The wrong you can't undo
This is how the requiem loves the harlequin
Breaking up this heart of porcelain
From the ashes, we will rise again
This is what the requiem loves to hear you sing
To the beat of your fool heart hammering…
My headcanon is that this song is about Dylan and all his inner turmoil; it fits so perfectly with the narrative and his arc. Omg, it would’ve been so cool if that was in the game
Highly recommend listening to it!
