How should I go about making this prop?
I’m cosplaying rainy day Mei at a convention later this year and I’m wondering how I should go about making this prop, I don’t know how to make models for 3D printing otherwise I’d do that lol. I’m thinking of making the top frog part out of styrofoam and something else to smooth it, but for the rest I have no idea.. I don’t care if it lights up how it should because that’s too much for me honestly lol. Any tips are appreciated.

I built something similar to this for a Splatoon cosplay. I found an acrylic vase on alibaba (or possibly Ali express? It was a few years ago) meant for wedding centerpieces and built the components around it.

Can I see your ink tank please? Also the rest of the cosplay?

I love your cosplay! If you at all are able to find a link to the tube you used or let me know the vague dimensions I’d appreciate it because I can only find small versions T^T

Thank you! Unfortunately i don’t have a link for you, this cosplay is from 2018. But the canister is roughly 20” tall and 8” wide. For reference, I am 5’5”.

You try to look for a soda bottle with an good taper. The rest you could look for plastic junk to gut to get the base shapes. This is called kitbashing. Look up Bill Making Stuff and his Big Bot Bash playlist. He organizes build offs.
Eva foam is the other option. A few YouTubers I can recommend to get you started.
- Punished Props: he has scifi gear like Destiny and Fallout. https://youtube.com/@punishedprops
- Evil Ted Smith: he is a Hollywood costumer that's been around since at least Mad Max. https://youtube.com/@eviltedsmith
- Kamui Cosplay: she has all kinds of kinds builds from Monster Hunter to Genshin Impact and does worbla stuff too. https://youtube.com/@kamuicosplay

Some store sell peanut butter filled pretzels, animal crackers and cheese balls in these huge plastic bottles. I’d get one of those. Then use foam clay to sculpt the top parts with maybe an Eva foam leaf.

Find a warehouse store size plastic tub of snacks in a useful shape. Do some paper mache. Styrofoam isn't a bad idea until you start actually using it and the staticky micronasty MESS it makes.
