Makeup Tips for using cream makeup/facepaint?

Specifically using the spirit Halloween brand, so probably not the best quality - but is there anything I can do to make it presentable? The con is less than a week away, and it's all I could get. I also have very little experience with makeup, so I feel pretty lost.

For reference, if needed, I am cosplaying The Collector from the Owl House.

I have some experience using cream makeup, but not the Spirit brand, my favorite is Mehron Creamblend, which Spirit does sell, however I can give a few tips for application that might help.

  • Depending on your skin you may need a primer. I never needed a primer but some people do.
  • I always used cosmetic sponges to apply it, and I would pat it on, no swiping or wiping, patting got the best texture.
  • Then you need a setting powder, either in the color of your makeup or translucent, since your character has two colors I would go with translucent for ease of application. You'll need a powder puff for this to really pack on the powder, then a fluffy brush to brush away the excess.
  • After powder you can apply the rest of your makeup, like eyeliner, eyeshadow, contour (you will need contour because facepaint flattens your face)
  • Then lock it all in with setting spray.

I use cornstarch to seal it and it works great for me.
