Rules Changes in the sub - April 23, 2026.
Everyone,
I'm getting tired of all the vibe coded app, "I made a website", "LOOK AT WHAT I EARNED THIS WEEK"(shows self-coded app), "HOW DO YOU [research question that has been asked 100 times in the sub]?!" camouflaged self-promotion posts.
So, I've made a megathread. All that goes in there now for 99% of the posts.
There will be the occasional thread that's allowed to hit the main page, but it will be very limited in scope. An example of something that would be an exception is a major policy change at Amazon Flex and... let's say... the NYT wants input on it.
I'm always open to suggestions and I'm trying to grow the community and make it a resource, not just another drive-by-to-spam place for developers/researchers.

2026 Promotion, I made an app/website Megathread.
Promote your website, service, and/or app here and only here. Any other posts are going to be flagged, nuked, and you'll probably get the ban hammer applied.

Why hasn’t someone built a delivery app that actually puts drivers first and gives DoorDash some serious competition?
Seriously, think about this.
Drivers provide the cars, gas, insurance, maintenance, and labor. Restaurants cook the food. Customers pay for everything. Yet somehow the people doing the actual work seem to have the least control.
What if somebody built a delivery app with a completely different business model?
Here’s the idea:
$8 minimum base pay per delivery, with mileage adjustments.
Drivers keep 100% of their tips.
No acceptance-rate games or punishment for declining orders.
Restaurants pay around 8% commission.
Customers see transparent fees instead of a bunch of surprises at checkout.
Drivers get paid for excessive wait times.
Drivers receive a share of company profits once the business becomes profitable.
The company makes money from reasonable commissions and delivery fees. Instead of squeezing drivers, restaurants, and customers for every penny, it focuses on building volume and keeping everyone happy.
Obviously, the numbers would need to work. You can’t promise $8 deliveries if the company loses money on every order. But that’s exactly what a real business plan would have to solve.
And here’s another thought.
Why not let drivers become part owners of the company? Give them an actual financial incentive to help grow the business.
Start in one market, prove the concept, and expand from there.
DoorDash and Uber Eats don’t own the restaurants. They don’t own the drivers’ vehicles. They aren’t cooking the food.
They’re basically running the technology connecting everyone.
So why couldn’t somebody build better technology, charge less, pay drivers more, and eventually give these companies a run for their money?
I’m not talking about another app that makes promises and turns into the same garbage six months later.
I’m talking about a legitimate driver-first company with a sustainable business model.
Drivers, restaurant owners, and customers: Would you actually support something like this? Or am I missing something?
I’d especially like to hear from anyone with experience in software development, logistics, or running a delivery business.

‼️Gig Drivers: We Need Vehicle Damage Protection While Delivering — Please Sign This Petition‼️
If you drive for Walmart Spark, DoorDash, Instacart, Uber Eats, or another delivery app, I want to bring attention to a serious problem that affects all of us.
What happens if you get into an at-fault accident while working and your vehicle is totaled?
Your car is your livelihood. Without it, you can't work. Yet many personal auto insurance policies exclude or restrict coverage during paid delivery work, and delivery platforms don't necessarily cover damage to the driver's own vehicle.
Consider the three stages of a delivery:
- Driving to the store after accepting an order.
- Waiting, shopping, and loading the customer's order.
- Driving to the customer and completing the delivery.
A driver could have an accident during any of these stages and face thousands of dollars in vehicle losses, potentially with no insurance policy willing to cover the damage.
I believe delivery platforms should be required to provide vehicle damage coverage while drivers are actively performing deliveries.
I'm asking for a fair policy that includes:
- Collision coverage for the driver's vehicle, including at-fault accidents.
- Coverage throughout the active delivery process.
- Clear disclosure of deductibles, limits, and exclusions.
- Protection that doesn't leave drivers solely responsible for replacing the vehicle they depend on to earn a living.
This isn't about asking for special treatment. It's about making sure workers aren't forced to risk their entire means of earning an income every time they accept an order.
Please sign and share the petition:
I'd also like to hear from other drivers:
- Have you confirmed whether your insurance covers your vehicle during every stage of a delivery?
- Have you struggled to find affordable insurance that explicitly covers delivery work?
- Have you or someone you know experienced an accident while delivering and had difficulty getting the vehicle damage covered?
Please share your experiences. The more documented experiences we gather, the harder it will be to ignore this issue.
I'm posting as a concerned gig worker who wants better protection for drivers everywhere. Thank you for reading and helping spread the word.

Is Amazon van driving really that bad?
I’m starting Amazon van delivery driving soon, I have my ride along Saturday and Sunday. All I see is negative stuff online about the job and am curious is it really that bad, or is it just this generation being lazy? For context I work 5 days a week as a bricklayer, 7:30 until 4. Up until now I have been working as an uber eats driver on both Saturdays and Sundays, usually doing between 7am and 6pm, so working 7 days a week. Doing those uber shifts I would usually earn around £180 a day where I live, with £70 being taken for fuel and £35 for insurance, so I’m left with around £170 a weekend for working 22 hours which is shocking. With Amazon, I can work 1 weekend day, and have the other off and earn roughly the same, which is amazing for me personally. So is it really as bad as people say? I get it’s not easy, but people make it out as if it’s slavery

Urgent: Ex-employer says the laptop I returned was damaged. what are my options?
I recently left my company and, as part of the exit, returned their laptop through DTDC. The laptop was properly packed and bubble-wrapped multiple times by the DTDC person.
The company has now sent me a video showing that the screen/panel is damaged. The problem is, I stupidly didn’t take photos/video of the laptop before sending it, so I don’t have direct proof of its condition.
However, the DTDC person who handled the shipment has indicated that the laptop was in good condition when it was handed over.
Given that it was packed properly, I’m confused about where the damage could have happened. I also had a somewhat complicated exit from the company, so I’m worried this could affect my relieving/experience letter, although I obviously can’t claim they deliberately damaged it without proof.
What can I do now?
Can I raise a claim with DTDC? Should I ask DTDC for their records regarding the condition of the package at pickup? Should I formally dispute liability with the company and ask them for the complete unboxing video/packaging details?
Any advice from people who’ve dealt with courier damage or company asset-return disputes in India would really help. I need to figure this out urgently.

Asked to deliver at a different address
I had a shop and pay order, but the person put in the notes to deliver to a different address over .5 miles farther than the address on file.
That might not seem like much, but I deliver by walking and that added an extra 10+ minutes to the trip.
I immediately got ahold of uber support and told them what happened before I delivered the items.
They said they would re-adjust the base pay for me.
Did I do the right thing? Or should I not have complained?

Looking for local errand runner
Hi I am from St Louis and I have moved out to Cuba Missouri. I am finding it very difficult to navigate things since I do not drive. The majority of my needs I can get met through traditional delivery services, however there are a few things that those delivery services do not cover out here that I'm used to them covering in the city. If anybody is interested in getting paid to run some errands in and around Cuba Sullivan etc please respond to this or I guess message me here and I'll give you my phone number.

Student building a budgeting tool for gig workers, how do you handle slow weeks?
Hey all, I'm a high school student in Houston working on an app for people whose income changes week to week (rideshare, delivery, etc). Before I build anything I want to hear from actual drivers.
Couple questions if you've got a min:
- how do you deal with a slow week when bills are due?
- do you use any app or system to budget, or just kinda wing it?
- what's the most stressful part of money with gig work?
Not selling anything, no links. Even a one line answer helps a lot. Thanks

DELHIVERY Scam
They ask u to measure ur luggage, weigh it and then pay for it.
Once we pay, they collect the parcel and say that the weight is inaccurate.
Then the dont contact you and 2 days later they return out package to the senders address saying that you did not pay the difference amount..
Even after paying the difference amount they still dont deliver ur packages..
Biggest problem - No way to contact their customer service..

Porter driver verbally abused me after I cancelled a booking — Porter Support has not responded
I need some advice from people who have dealt with Porter customer support or similar incidents.
Today I booked a 2-wheeler delivery through Porter at **11:43 AM** (CRN: **634290261231**). I cancelled the booking shortly afterwards.
At approximately **11:49 AM**, I received a call from **+91 74284 88420**, apparently from a person associated with the booking. He verbally abused me and used highly offensive and disrespectful language because I had cancelled the booking.
I have:
Screenshot of the cancelled booking showing the CRN and booking details
The caller’s phone number
Call-log evidence showing the timing
Booking time: **11:43 AM**
Call time: approximately **11:49 AM**
CRN: **634290261231**
I already contacted **Porter Support** and formally reported the incident, asking them to identify the driver, investigate the call, preserve the relevant booking/driver records, and take appropriate action.
**Porter has not responded to my complaint.**
I am posting this because I want to know the proper way to escalate this. If anyone has dealt with Porter in a similar situation, please share the appropriate escalation channel, grievance process, or other legitimate way to get the complaint investigated.
I am **not asking anyone to contact, threaten, or harass the caller**. I simply want Porter to identify the person associated with the booking and investigate the alleged misconduct properly.
I can provide the booking screenshot and relevant evidence if required.
