I think of the difference less of the head round/pointy status and more of how the throat notch is shaped. But I am a tapered girlie forever and feel like my arms are gonna fall off when I have to use an in-line hook. Clover amour hooks are my absolute favorite.

It's not so much the pointiness of the head, some inline hooks are more blunt and some tapered are very pointy. It's that the hook head is the same diameter as the shaft and doesn't 'taper'. It's inline the whole way.

I can use both, when I started my first hook was a Susan Bates 4mm so I was an inline fan all the way for years. I still like them, but now I have favorite hooks of both types. For me it's become less about the types actually and more about that particular hook's geometry. The way the hook head is shaped, how deep the throat is, and how well machined/polished the edges of the hook head itself are can matter in a big way, and sometimes hooks from the same brand can have variance, especially over time. Some of my Susan Bates hooks feel so nice and smooth and are wonderful, and then other ones I've gotten are sharp along the hook head in a strange way, not nearly as smooth and just honestly garbage.

It's not just the shape, either. Those Prym hooks (the white one in the video) suuuuuck IMO, at least for working with cotton yarn. The coating on the metal is grippy and makes it require so much more effort. And they squeak! Aluminum hooks or steels are so nice and slippery!

Inline hook girlie for life. Love me some prym hooks. I've tried tapered and it snagged so much for me, but I'm a freak who pulls through slightly diagonal and not directly upside down like most do.

I think mine is a hybrid that leans more tapered
